Rodrigo Bentancur

I think the midfield worked well as a unit in Villa game, something that's not happened that often. Their experience helped greatly, Bergvall and Gray have real potential but have had to carry too much expectation this season particularly with changing teams and tactics. So many young midfield players find it hard to cope with levels of performance in PL and those 2 were trying hard to steer a ruderless ship in a storm. They will be better players for this challenging season.

When Robert Downey Zerbi dropped Gray I was really surprised, as he had been the shining light in an otherwise abject run of 15 games - but have to say he has benefited from the return of Bentancur, who to his credit has come back looking like he's not been away - no mean feat after the time he had out.

We may see a bit of madders next, and GHod knows that could be crucial in the next three games.
I think Gray looked mentally tired and needed a break to watch someone above his level and learn from the sidelines. He’s been fantastic for us and I have no doubt if he stays long term he will become a captain. Too much pressure for a young player.

I don't think it's a slight on Gray, think RDZ has decided he wants experience in this dog fight, Danso, Porro, Bentancur, Palhinha, Richi, Gallagher, all our oldest and most experienced players.

That’s how I see it too. Almost like son you have done your part for the season. Get your recovery and rest and come back when you can enjoy football and showcase your talent rather than busting your ass running through concrete persevering while seagulls brick on you.

looked so casual in our last and most important game of the season.
has his head been turned?

though i like him and he's shown some skills at times, it looks like he isn't going to peak like his first season for us again.
won't be surprised if we sold him and upgraded. won't be too difficult either

Interesting, feels like our turn in form has coincided with his return from injury, his control of the ball and calmness has been something no one else has been able to do. While he looks less dynamic then he was pre injury he is still our best mid for me.

Always reminds me of the arguments on here regarding Modric and what does he do etc
