Well my fat old PS3 gave up the ghost tonight :frown:, my question is if I buy a slim one can I swap out my 500gb HD from the old one straight into the new?

Is it a 2.5''? Shouldn't be a problem then - hundreds of tutorials online.

By the way - my PS3 slim came with a 320GB which is more than enough for me. You can always stick with that instead and use the old one as additional external storage. Just an idea

Just wondered as the old drive (I presume) will have all of my account info, game saves, and game settings stored on it. I upgraded the drive to 500gb a while ago so am buying a 160gb slim PS3 and will just swap the drives over, simples!

Well I had a result, was cleaning out my desk drawers and came across 5 old blackberrys (phones not fruit) Mazuma mobiled the fudgers and hey presto it has paid for a new PS3! Woo Hoo!!

All yours? Wouldn't be surprised, they're more injury-prone than Ledley's knees!

Not all mine, I have a team of 10 that all have mobiles, I sort out the renewals and upgrades and make them return the old ones to me.

I'M TELLING THE TAXMAN!

I've got an old Nokia and a Sony Ericsson "Walkman" phone upstairs... Think the grand total comes to ?ú1.02!

How much of a HDD do you need for a PS3? Thinking of getting one, but don't know if to go 160 or 320?

Depends if you plan to store movies etc on it and use it as a media centre, if not 160 should be ample (You can easily up the HDD yourself anyway)

Ok it seems if I take my HDD out of my dead PS3 and put it into the new PS3 it will automatically format the drive, thus losing my save games and everything I have unlocked on COD and BF3! Arrghh. Even worse is the only way to back up the drive is via the PS3 it is currently installed in, which of course is non responsive. Looks like I have a date with the hair drier, a box and a fan!
