Worrying lack of pace in our front three yesterday. Felt pretty toothless. And a lack of creativity in the 10 just felt like we were set up to fail

The players were being linked with IMO are not the players who hold the ball up and do the physical side though and that is a worry for me

If we can play through a press we don’t need a #9 who can play with his back to goal.

But until we do, we simply cannot play Richy over Solanke. I’ve never been a fan of his but that performance yesterday was laughably bad.

I didn’t want to make an emotional post in here based on Saturday’s game, but now I’ve had a chance to absorb the obvious…

…we need to sell Richy asap. He's an embarrassment on the pitch with his antics, not nearly good enough technically and cannot seriously start for us if we have goals of achieving CL football next year. This isn’t based on one game, but the entirety of his Spurs career. I believe he gives his all for us but that’s not enough anymore. If Solanke can give us 60-70 mins midweek and we finalize the Marmoush deal, I would like to see him gone.

I'd say we chose last for two reasons

- You need to be able to hold on to the ball and pass it to the attack, otherwise it doesn't matter if your front line is good if they are onstantly starved.
- The players we obviously identified, their clubs weren't willing to release early (same thing PSG, Liverpool, City are dealing with)

Not comfortable with Solanke either, he's the inverse Richi, sure he can hold on to the ball but he can't score for fudge (in our colours), and in preseason he seemed completely disconnected from team (and my concern is he started his career at a big club, failed, went to smaller club, flourished, has come back to a bigger club and failed again, beyond the fitness issue, this may be mental)

I’m not fully comfortable with him either but he doesn’t embarrass me as a fan in the way Richy does. Dom appears too comfortable in the knowledge he is already financially secure for the rest of his life and doesn’t have the drive to be the best player possible.

I’d happily sell them both to finance another CF but at least I can see a role for Solanke whereas I just can’t make excuses for Richy anymore.

Admittedly, I've always been curious to see what Scarlett would look like with 10 first teamers around him and leading the line. I do struggle to understand how we watch these inept performances from senior players like Richi yet don't shake them up a little and give a youngster a go. Let's also understand that a guy like Scarlett isn't so much of a kid anymore. He's 22 and the last time he pulled the shirt on (Elfsborg) he was the EL hero. He did absolutely everything we said that Richi didn't at the weekend when he came into that game.

I'm working on the assumption that Scarlett isn't going to make the grade. To me, that doesn't mean he should be completely invisible in the squad. If he has attributes that match the manager's tactical needs then he could actually be more valuable than a player like Richi, for the short term until the problem is solved.

Every time I’ve seen Scarlett play he hasn’t disappointed. I wanted TF to give him more chances last year but we stuck with someone who looks like a drunk hippo on ice half of the time.

I feel for the guy and am not sure why he is still around if we obviously don’t feel he’s worth a shot.
