Richarlison

sure richy is good on a per minute basis, too bad the football league is judged by an entire season.
richy is ranked 15th in goals and assists - he is not good enough if we want better total points per season. to keep him is to have a coach who can tell when he is not going to score in a game and another one can, which is near impossible.

The goals per minute thing with Richy is just a beg when the eyes tell us all we need to know with him. How anyone can complain about finishing 17th but then at the same time promote the idea of Richy being good enough for where we want to be (and not where we actually are) is crazy work.

Get rid of him without buying and that's another what, 11 goals and 5 assists less than last season?
Nobody's saying build a side around him, the suggestion from some is that in a season where we need BIG money to upgrade the 9, LW and hopefully a creative mid too, he is an easy squad option to keep, especially when we could probably get somewhat decent money for Solanke.
Otherwise you need another forward along with the (hopefully) class 9 we will bring in. Unless you think Solanke is a better option off the bench. I don't necessarily...

I think solanke will be better than Richy under dezerbiball .

If we can afford to we should, and bring in someone strong and fast ....like balugun

I don't rate either and would happily sell them both but given the choice I'd rather give Solanke another chance. Richy's limitations are too obvious and apparent and for his decent sniffing out of penalty box scrambles he's a terrible footballer that hampers our possession game. In surprised you want to keep him considering you want intricate possession football, Richy is actively the antithesis of this. His direct touch is awful, he falls over constantly and he can't link play for brick. Richy is where attacks go to die unless he can get a shot off. It's been 4 years he's not going to improve and he has 1 year left in his contract, now is absolutely the right time to sell.

As ever, we agree to disagree.
BTW I specified my reasons.

I’ve always thought Richie is unlucky to be in this generation. In the 442 era up top with someone else he can be good. Just no one plays that way anymore and he’s not suited to being up top alone.

We can and should improve on him, but if he was our back up option I would be disappointed.

I get your reasons but I wouldn't expect we sign nobody. I don't rate either I would sell both. 🤣

But as that's unlikely to happen I'd move the worse of the two in for now and next January/Summer move the other one on. I don't even think it takes big money to upgrade, neither are good most PL clubs have better strikers than him right now. I'd even take Tel and Lankshear along with Solanke as the backups to a decent quality striker, we don't even need a great one for it to be a significant improvement upon what we have right now.

I think the difference is that Richi probably won't get any better than what we've seen this last season. An injury free Solanke can be unlocked and be a massive enabler to RDZ's tactics. I'm left scratching my head on Dom. He finished this season so much worse than we saw under Ange. It's not as if he scored loads under Ange but the tactics all fitted well around him. He was actually playing really well and looking like a guy that would have been on the place to the USA this summer. Not sure whether it was injuries, but he was a shadow of the player.

I wasn't personally impressed with him under Ange either. Pressed very well, ok hold up play, but very little threat and very few shots taken by him. I just feel he lacks the ability to gain space and get a shot away when a defender is on him, but if I had to choose and I think this summer we have to, I'd go with Solanke because we know if the system can be moulded to get the best out of him we could possibly get that Bournemouth season out of him, a season that Richy has never achieved and let's be real will never achieve.

As a backup right now that'd be madness. You would shove Tel into a backup CF, therefore stunting his development, to get maybe one or two goals (he is more a creator than scorer)? Lankshear needs one more good season on loan and then next summer will hopefully be ready to step in for Richy when he leaves. If we get the great striker we need, I'd be happy with 10-11 goals from a backup who is decent off the bench.
Again, we agree to disagree!!!!!!!!
