Ratings v Norwich

Mulletperm

Mauricio Taricco
Lloris - 5. All over the place for their goal.

Walker - 7. Probably best player for us. Not called on defensively, and tried hard getting forward. Still struggles to link with Lennon.
Dawson - 5. Bullied by Holt and too much hoofing, especially first half.
Vert' - 5. Caught flat-footed a couple of times.
BAE - 5. Got caught out a few times and all their attacks came down our left-hand side.

Lennon - 5. Never really got going. Had chance to take on the RB few times, but cut inside instead.
Dembele - 5. Not good enough. Anonymous in first half, bit better in second.
Parker - 4. Pretty woeful. Little turns got him in trouble several times.
Bale - 7. Would have been 5 but +2 for that goal.

Dempsey - 5. Never got into it.
Defoe - 4. Poor. Typical selfish from Defoe.

Subs:
Holtby - 7. Like the look of him. Great first touch, but very left-footed.
Sig' - 6. Was surprised at the sub, but done okay. Unlucky with his shot.

Didn't think there were that many tonight tbh, however you seem to have forgotten one outstanding long punt down the left flank first half that put Lennon through

That was interesting - totally brick in the first half

Second half we pushed the full backs right up the pitch and allowed Bale and Lennon to roam inside, suddenly we were pinning them right back

Given our poor forwards I would consider Sigg and Holtby and Bale and Lennon and Dempsey as a roving mish-mash forward unit... the full backs pushed right up the pitch.

Oh and some other lads.

Edit - What I mean is, Bale and Lennon are always roaming inside nowadays... but we actually had the full backs pushed right up so it made more sense, as we still had width. Daring, but audere est facere.

It would be naive to think we could get through the season with our current strikeforce. It would be downright fudging stupid and a bit arrogant in all honesty if Defoe is carrying an injury, which it looks like he is.

Lloris 6

walker 6
dawson 5
verts 4.5
ekotto 4.5

lennon 6
parker 3.5
dembele 5.5
bale 6.5

dempsey 6
defoe 5.5 (looks injured swear his pace has gone, if this is the start of the end with him sell him now while he still has a value, i hope he can get his fitness back, but without his speed he is nothing)

subs
Holtby 7
siggy 6.5 feel really sorry for him because he has shown in glimpses that he has it in the locker but not given a chance.

AVB
Needs to sort out the midfield because we are not creating clear cut chances and not showing as an attacking unit.

Admit to not seeing that as still trying to find a stream at that stage

And I don't think it was just Daws doing the punts. There were several long-rangers aimed at Defoe. And he got none of them

Yep the was a bit in the second half where if he hd his usual speed he would have got to the ball and had a couple of seconds with it in their penalty area, im not saying he would have scored but he would have been there.

well it is not defoes main strength is it getting on the end of long balls, shows how messed up our team is at the moment

BAE 5 - way out of position for their goal

It was a counter attack, our full backs aren't supposed to be "in position" when we attack, they're supposed to push forward. Can't really then blame them for being high up the pitch when we lose the ball.

Ekotto put pressure on the man with the ball and Parker looked like he was following the runner. But instead of following him he just stopped for a bit for whatever reason and didn't have the pace to recover.

I also think our defenders and possibly Dembele are to blame. Something not right when a Norwich player gets to be that free in the box even if it's a counter attack. Think Dembele could have gotten back. Vertonghen was nowhere near a Norwich player.

Lloris 5.5 looked shaky today
Ekotto 5 big fan but he was toss tonight. Misplaced passes galore was much better towards the end
Vertonghen 5.5 not looking as good recently
Dawson 6 done ok, but another guilty of poor passing
Walker 6 probable best of the defenders
Lennon 5 only woke up when Holtby was on
Parker 5 bad game for Parker. Was wound up watching him tonight but he's not as bad as I was making out in the OMT
Dembele 6 improved second half, not great first at all
Bale 8 world class goal, only guy trying anything
Dempsey 5 poor today, laboured and just couldn't get into it
Defoe 5 poor as well, off the boil

Holtby 7.5 really impressed
Sig 6 unlucky not to score

Unless Lloris was 17ft tall, he was never going to get anywhere near that cross, I was expecting something horrific after reading some people's posts but as usual it was typical fan hyperbole.

You didn't watch the game?

He did look like he lost the flight of the ball or something for the goal. Not that he could have come for the cross, but he got himself out of position and looked lost. He also had a very poor punch that he got away with and some sketchy distribution at times. Not his best game.

Just watched again on Sky, it was Vertonghen doing all the wayward puntiing, not Daws.
