Don’t we have many people already unemployed looking for low level jobs? Until we have some sort of saturation point. I don’t think we require unskilled migrants who have less of an education or a head start vs the unemployed in the country currently.

The current unemployed should be made to work to earn their benefits if they are physically and or mentally able to do so. We have a massive lazy culture that needs addressing.

we have a future generation of kids currently who will not find work or get an education to be employable that should be our focus if we are so concerned about future generations

Do we give out work visas to unskilled migrants? I wasn’t aware we did. Unless I suppose as an example care assistants are classed as unskilled?

I don’t know where and how you got to that conclusion respectfully.

I think we are genuinely talking about unvetted individuals who are trafficked into the country. Or those that come here under false pretences all in a guise to remain here and work.

They (SNP) changed legislation last year, you can now be eligible if you have basically any leave to remain, so if someone is on a student visa, because it gives them a right to be in the country for a period of time they can be eligible for election.

But individuals who are trafficked into the country are not a part of the official workforce. A trafficked woman working in a nail bar or someone trafficked into other areas of the e black economy are not going to be replaced by an unemployed person if that trafficking victim wasn’t here.

There definitely needs to be a tighter rein on student visas and what happens when they expire. There definitely needs to be a programme to train up the local workforce to do some of the roles that we give out visas for.
Part of the problem is paying people enough to do some of these roles as it will have a knock on effect and ultimately the population will be asked to pay more.

If you are worried about future generations and their wealth, being furious about a few refugees is not going to fix that. Deporting all of them won't fix that. As they are not the reason we are where we are. We are here to due to austerity and right wing economics.

That is a very odd decision.
Permanent leave to remain, and perhaps citizenship (I think I'd have a "eligible to stand, must become citizen within a year of accepting office" clause), should be requirements for being an elected official.

Right wing economics? That’s a bit of a stretch lad.

And if it’s only a handful of illegal individuals working then it shouldn’t matter that we set the tone of deporting anyone that shouldn’t be here correct? Then that would at the very least make anyone who sees it that way, racists stay quiet correct?

My understanding of this case, i could be wrong, is that he has no work visa, but now that he has an £80k job he can apply for a work visa. Seems arse over elbow to me, but hey ho.
The real scandal in my honest opinion is that these clowns in holyrood are paid £80k.
The Scottish Parliament is nothing but a colossal waste of money, most of it paid to useless chances.

Is that the austerity and right wing economics that lead to our last Conservative government taxing and spending more than any government since WWII?

Or the Labour government that taxed and spent even more?
