Politics, politics, politics (so long and thanks for all the fish)

BBC thing is wild. They didn't need to do it to make the manchild look like a massive bellend. Why do it.

And I'm no Beeb fanatic but for this to be the nail in the coffin would be tragic.

Wasn’t it a round up “highlights” clip, years after the actual event?

It wasn’t a lead or showing anyone anything they hadn’t seen a thousand times before.

Would be mad if something this trivial did so much damage compared to all the actual missteps the BBC have made in the last decade.

Presumably it was only one documentary director, who got a bit loose? Not exactly a big corporate cover up. All it needed was a millisecond of fade to demonstrate it wasn't continuous footage. No one even noticed for more than a year. It's not that big a deal if they can get Robbie Gibb (who seems to be the source of all the poison) out and get a competent new director general in.
With all its flaws the BBC is still something to be cherished. It has been tacking right for years and needs a course correction. This is an opportunity.

My view too. Panorama has been one of the most critical productions the UK has ever produced.

I love those who say "they will never watch BBC because of the news", I actually don't watch the news much on TV, lets alone BBC, I see clips online like most, but I think as a channel, the BBC is decent. Loved the shows they have had throughout the years. Line of Duty, Killing Eve, Industry.........all fairly decent.

It was till the Tories defunded it. BBC4 used to make loads of brilliant documentaries on all subjects, but it's not been able to make anything new/has been living off its back catalogue for nearly a decade now.

This was a manufactured attack vector on the BBC. The goal is to weaken or destroy the institution altogether.

It was edited to make it look like the clips were seconds apart when it didn’t need to be. As others have said, the footage was damning enough as it is, they didn’t need to enhance it so to speak.

The leaked memo from Michael Prescott also claimed the BBC are biased when it comes to Israel/Gaza and trans issues.

It's absolutely bizarre that there are some making excuses, deflecting or just downright ignoring it.
It was wrong, the BBC can be wrong and trump can still be a massive clam.
It's the optics that matter, the right attack the BBC as being a corrupt organisation in the thrawl of leftist agitators, well he now can point at it and say "I told you so", and the more people rush to defend it rather than condemn it the more it appears he is correct.
They have handed him the narrative, any time he wants to pour water on accusations he can point at this and say, see what they do, don't believe them.
It's crass stupidity, no wonder they can't win elections.
Don't condone it, condemn it, tell the world it's wrong and that you are better than that.

Years and years after the fact.

Long after anyone interested had burned the originals into their memory.

It was a dodgy edit yeah, but changed 0 minds on 0 issues.

It had also sat around for a year before anyone actually noticed.

Recent News Agent podcasts are worth a listen, this is part of the undermining of the BBC, Lewis Goodall had a dossier prepped on him before he left, Gibbs had his entire historical output graded for its “bias” against right wing idealism.

Is the argument here really the BBC were wrong that Trump incited an insurrection? Because he absolutely 100% did.

It's not a dodgy edit, it's wrong.
And again it's about the optics, you can't stand up and say trump and his ilk and liars and perverters of the truth and then do it yourself and not take the consequences of it.
Show some humility, it would go a long way at the moment.

Obviously not speaking about you personally but about the politicians.

it's a lazy edit, nothing more

and it's undoubtedly what he meant
