OMT ** Tottenham Hotspur v Palace **. 28.12.25 4.30pm

Never in doubt, and despite us not playing very well for large parts of the game, based on chances created I think we actually deserved the three points. They had a lot of the ball, but didn't really create much. On a different day we'd have five goals.

Well deserved in the end, I think. Not that we were great, but Palace didn't create much.

Hoping that can nudge us in the right direction. Couple of signings in and we're aiming for top 4! League is brick, we don't need to up our game that much!

Wins a win, quick thoughts

- Players are still giving it a go
- We did look brick for long parts
- Thought we looked better with 3atb and Wilson on left.
- Richi still remains a player you want to get the ball to in the box, we just need to make more of those.
- Wouldn't sell Johnson in January yet.

Huge win and a very good win. Said I felt Frank needed no less than 2 points from this and Brentford or he was in trouble. Job done. Barring a complete collapse, he should get the season.

But we are a very poor watch. You see lads who can play football, like Porro for example, just hoofing the ball aimlessly. It’s eyesore football.

I don’t see this as something to build on as you can’t play like that and win a lot of games. Bar the last 10 mins or so, we were second best for a lot of that game.

Is this

A. A poor team who have smashed and grabbed a goal from a set piece completely against the run of play and are in a relegation fight

B. A performance from a nearly 1B assembled squad showing the ability to be able to weather the storm and putting in a statement performance while scoring a goal from a set piece.

I think it was a great performance from a good squad who are clicking and putting into practice what their manager wants.

It wasn’t free flowing football all the time. But I think the misnomer about those systems is that it’s always like that for 90 mins, especially away from home. And it isn’t. Playing those systems, they have to dig in at certain points once ahead.

Today, we dug in for the first 30 of both halves. We then clearly upped the intensity once Palace tired and created excellent chances. We could have had 3-0 bar tight offsides. Palace didn’t create much, certainly nothing where we didn’t have a player or two around their attacker disrupting them. But we created excellent chances.

Those chances came at the right times. We looked miles better at the end. And I think we controlled the game. Not in possession or territory, but in whose will gets imposed. And it was ours.

Difference with the Forest game is that we didn’t make stupid mistakes during the digging in periods. Which alters the game state. Here, we dug when we needed to. We upped intensity when we needed to. Very good signs for me.

Wonder if Saudi Sportswashing Machine will get panned as bad as we have for finding themselves in 14th.

We deserved the win overall for me on the balance of the game, go and beat Brentford and establish ourselves in the top half - the board can show they moved Levy on for a reason and actually get active in the market and we can chase Europe in the new year.

We also played some ok stuff that laid chances on, if players were not so lazy offside we could have been out of sight.

Not a great game but hardly as bad as people will make out

Tough game, and not one that will give a lot of ammunition to either Frank's defenders or his detractors, tbh.

On the plus side, we ground out a win. On the negative, we looked pretty toothless doing it until Palace tired right at the end, which is natural given this is their third game in a week.

Positive performances from Gray, and especially Odobert when he came on and tried to make things happen. Also good to see Dragusin back after his horror year.

Take that and move on - it probably buys Frank January at least, and hopefully the season if he can string a couple more together over that period. But performances need to improve, no doubt about it. Better decisions need to be made on and off the ball, and for that we need smarter players. Hopefully we can snatch a few in Jan.

Also, credit to the away fans as usual - loud all night, outsung the Palace lot. :)

That's a big 3 points, really needed. Looked decent at times and poision for most of the rest, but the points was the main thing today.
Strange game I thought.

They had a couple of good chances to score yet we looked solid overall really, we were poor going forward overall yet created plenty and easily should have had another 2 or 3.

What it does show is that the players are playing for Frank, and if we can bring elements together it has potential. Out with 2025, better things to come in 2026 hopefully....
