It's a good run put for the fringe players but this is why I preferred not to qualify for this tourny. It's gonna be a hard slog with the team's we put out and if we put out a strong side we risk burning our players out.

It's a lose lose situation.

?

If we didn't qualify for it we wouldn't have these games so the players like Nile, Dane, 2CV etc would be getting limited game time and exposure (short of going on loan).
If we lose, we lose nothing vs not qualifying but we have gained whatever minutes for squad players that we manage. So there is a win there.

if we do really really well then it adds to the momentum of the season and is a possibility of a trophy that shouldn't be sneered at given our current situation. It ain't as meaningless as the Peace Cup or the Audi Trophy by a large margin.

really don't get your negativity unless it is just for the sake of being a little bah humbug.

Doherty looks awful, Winks looks way below-average, Sessegnon doesn't look great either but maybe just rusty. John and Scarlett both seem like passengers this match but that's to be expected to a degree.
Gollini finally able to take his baseball cap off :D

What's wrong with giving fringe and back-up players a hard slog and a competitive runout? There's an edge to the game and it's instructive. Especially when you fall behind to a team like this.

Yeah, Nuno has got this spot on tonight, should have very little impact on the Wolves game.

Lo Celso and Winks are letting the younger players down. Seem to be well off of the pace and not able to play quickly enough.

Romero looks bang average by the way. Also 1 that looks off of the pace and doesn’t seem like he wants to be there.

I thought Lo Celso has been playing decently enough. Keeping possession and not misplacing passes unlike Winks.

As we hadn't qualified for the bigger tournaments I preferred a season free of midweek games. I believe that would have ultimately served our season better under a new coach with limited coaching time.

Every game we lose affects the confidence of the club and can add to any overall negativity we might be feeling anyway. There is the embrassement of losing to this calibre of team to go with it.

The fringe Ayers would still have the 2 domestic cups they could play in. Instead we are in this fairly pointless competition that just distracts from the serious comps.

And look now they are leading.

It's a lose lose.
