OMT Spurs v Athletico

Looking for some positives, I think the performance after the gift goals was decent. If the floodgates had opened, it would have extinguished any tiny flame of confidence for the next few games.

Two concussed players in the last few minutes is taking the absolute tinkle though. I'm thinking we didn't fully read the small print in the Faustian pact we entered to win a trophy.

I don’t particularly like Tudor, but don’t think you can blame him for the two slips today (or VDV’s red card against Palace).

To be fair I think you can blame him for starting Kinsky - though lots of fans wanted it, and I bet the second fudge-up wouldn’t have happened if the first slip hadn’t happened.

The tinkled off squad members I maybe agree with, but let’s not jump to conclusions - no-one’s even seen the Spence thing.

I have made my opinions on Frank very clear. I have also acknowledged that he did not necessarily get the support necessary from those around him. I have also made my opinions very very clear as to the mistake I think was made by the club in the summer with regards to (essentially) brickt ing hard on a trophy win in Europe and finding a spectacular way to suck the life out of the players, club and fanbase by continually telling us how 'shi t' we supposedly are. You say he set up to compensate for things we lacked? I disagree. Defensively solid? Come on. He essentially decided to set us up to play counter attacking football via long balls. If you think that is compensation, then we have very different ideas.

As to the earlier post from someone who bored off about the 'style mob' turning up and complaining early doors, let me be very fu cking clear.
I was TOLD we were being set up to play exciting, attacking, front-foot, daring football.
We were NOT!
Had there been even a DEGREE of honesty, it might've been easier to stomach.

Finally, and again addressed to THAT poster in particular (cannot remember who it was0...;the day I apologise to people like YOU for wanting my football club to continue standing for what they've always stood for is the the day I walk away from football. F uck THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I do think that these next 9 games require a win at all costs/methods mentality - like the last four in the EL did last season)

How do you play that football without the players to do it?

Surely give the manager time to build to it.

That's literally what was going on. People were complaining that the football wasn't Tottenham football and would be happier with worse results.

We began to play more expansively and got worse.

There was a section of the fan base that never gave the man a chance.

You know EXACTLY what you did with your first comment.

I will NEVER apologise for wanting us to be who we are.

Our major issues came when he started to encounter injuries.

My consistent question was 'what are we building and what are we being patient for'? You care to tell me? Because when he was sacked (far too LATE IMO) we were the sum total of sh ite and heading south.

I don't especially want to argue with fellow postees, we're all upset, but I can't be having low-ball studs up stuff like what you threw in there...

Also this, incredibly, not being another red for VDV:

I got no idea what you're talking about. The question was why did Frank change his approach.

Fundementally I think we are brick and I have done for quite a while. Ange's first season or at least the begining of it was a good reprieve but we eventually fell back to a more accurate level. I do not believe this team is capable of playing front football effectively. I just don't, we of course rate our players very differently, so that's an area we will likely never quite agree on.

So with Frank deciding to try to be defensively solid I could understand. We have no defense, we leak goals like a sive. 60+ leagues conceded season after season just isn't sustainable so if Frank felt (quite fairly imo) that we didn't have the players to effectively play openly then I didn't mind seeing him try for the longer pass counter football. It's not a football style I like or enjoy, but sorting out the fudging defense was priority and should be a priority for whenever takes us over. We do not have the attacking quality to outscore our defense. I would have let him have this season after which I would then expect to see some progression in instilling a better style of football.

we were that twice, for about 18 months each time, most recently 65 years ago

I don't think that is actually who we are

Surely it has to be. I mean, we've mostly been the creators of our own misfortune, but man have we had a massive share of bad luck too. Nothing surprises me anymore.

The football gods have been bending us over for years. I think they must have been asleep when we won the Europa last season. No doubt they were fuming when they woke and heard the score. This season is their vengeance.

If I had a Time Machine I'd go back to last May and get United the win.

It's been disastrous for us.
