***OMT: Mighty Spurs - Antwerpenpenpen***

If Dele is fit and can't play instead of LeCelco you can't imagine he has a future under Mourinho. To my mind there isn't a lot between Alli and LeCelco. Quite similar style players.

I'm really confused? you think Dele and Gio are similar?

I can’t see a future for him tbh, players have played worse in these games but not got hooked at HT, Dele has looked fine when he’s come on so unless this is an amazing long game being played to get something else out of him by Mourinho there’s really no point in him sticking around as I don’t see how he can get a look in.

A 3rd CB rather than Dele is a bit of a blow to the guy!

Agreed. It must surely herald the end for Dele at Spurs.

We are obviously experimenting with a new formation. A Plan B if you will. I suspect Jose wants to see if we can utilise both our full backs to attack. Maybe with Palace in mind. We need to get in behind teams which park the bus and not rely on a counter attacking tactic against defensive minded teams.

I'm not sure I agree with that. experimenting with a new formation is pointless when so few of your first 11 are playing

The only saving grace is Mourinho doesn't harbor grudges and doesn't strike me as being loyal to anyone. He can and will change. So if we get injuries or Dele shows his worth in a sub appearance, then he could turn it around.

Yes. Both try to make things happen. Both capable of brilliance on their day. Both a little frustrating and need to make moves stick more.

Don't see it mate, Dele has a single (successful) role, he's an AM that makes ghosting runs of a striker to score (scoring AM with not much else), Gio is a CM/AM capable of passing, managing the tempo of the game, going past his man and can play (effectively) deeper than Dele, create more than score (even though he can/has scored prior to Spurs (so kind of opposite of Dele).

To me Gio affects our side even when he never scores, Dele is the opposite, doesn't really affect the game unless he scores ...

I assume Mou said to Dele, please do ABCDE and do NOT do PQRST

Then Dele went on and did ABC and didn't do PQRS

So Mourinho said come on lad, you also need to do DE and do not do T

Repeat, repeat, repeat until Dele does ABCDE and does NOT do PQRST

Simple as that... follow the Mou instructions and he will play you

Doesn't Dele's assists record suggest otherwise?

I’m not so sure tbh, I feel like a decision was made at half time against Everton and that’s that. I know we’re top of the league so I shouldn’t question it but for some reason I feel quite disappointed how it’s all worked out, perhaps because the fall has been so severe given he scored a few early on under Mourinho and has gone from starting Prem games to not getting into reserve teams in the space of a couple of months.

On that basis let’s hope he has said to Joe Hart don’t let in any easy shots....

Looking at it closely, I'm more worried about a Winks + Lo Celso central midfield. Could be totally bypassed as Winks is so poor defensively. Gio will need to be ready.

They did well together after the restart but this is very close to the team that got outplayed by the same opponents a few weeks ago.

It is sad. He's gone from wonder-boy to boot boy. But you have to respect Mourinho's ruthlessness. Dele worked in an up and coming side under Poch. With Eriksen to play off. But he was always inefficient. Would always lose the ball. But he also came up with the goods - goals, assists and creativity. Under Mourinho losing the ball is a massive no no. Dele's game is to try the audacious. More than half the time it won't come off.

So yeah I agree, he probably should move on. But the door is not closed. He can have a renaissance if we get injuries. Having a fresh creative player later in the season could be huge. Bale and Alli could help us see out whichever competition we're in at the end of the season.

Very true. Someone said last week that Mourinho is the guy that goes to a casino and puts £3 on black and wins and then £3 on black and wins and then goes home, because he was won.
He won't throw his money onto 23 or keep betting and betting until he loses, he will just make a small bet and win and go home.
Every time.
