OMT Badgers vs Eagles

Well at lest we won’t have to endure the embarrassment of being the first team which Johnson scores against in a Palace shirt… from kick-off anyway!!

Not much creativity in there, but on paper it looks fairly balanced.

Must be nice to have a midfielder who can play line-breaking passes instead of having to rely upon the RCB to do so…

I think we can agree that both players and manager need to show an awful lot more and actually play (and manage) like they actually want us to get out of this situation.

My only issue with these players is there’s a real thing forming where it’s all (not your quote) “the players need an arm round them and to be told they’re good and be allowed to play and it will all come good for them” and to be honest, I certainly think there’s a lot to be said for taking Franks shackles off, and getting them to go out and play more open and expansive, but in some quarters (mostly online) it’s gone a bit far.

These players also need to realise they are paid millions of pounds a week, and that the fans watching them pay thousands every season to be there, if these players can’t motivate themselves to a high level without having to constantly be told the situation they’re in, then they aren’t good enough for this league anyway.

The crowd, the manager and other sources can do a lot, but these players actually need to show some backbone and meet all of those sources half way as well. Currently we’re headed to the championship with an absolute whimper.
I totally agree. The main reason why I side with players over a manager is when I see the type of football we play and know they're not natural for our players. Remember, managers can drop players for any reason.

But i also strongly believe defenders today are garbage compared to 10 years ago. Forget our defence being rubbish, I think most defences from 10 years ago could be premier League winning defences compared to today. This is why I'm so strongly against pragmatic football. Get them players on the front foot, control the ball so they defend less. I think the same for attackers, they aren't great anymore. So let's put attacking players in the midfield. We don't need 2 defensive players, we need 1 attacking mid and one box to box. But the defensive mid has to be good on the ball.

We just need to play to our "strengths" more than paper over our weaknesses. We don't have enough or good enough players to keep trying to be solid defensively.

I always wondered if Romero would make a decent DM. He'd probably get sent off even more than now, but he has the right skill set I think, and would not be the last line of defence when the urge to go roaming comes on him.
