I haven't swerved anything. I think that Benny is an excellent full back and one of the most under rated players at the club. I think that Vertonhen provides useful cover whilst Benny is out but he is better at centre back.

Yes underrated. He's a top quality full back, but we are constantly told by the media and experts that the likes of Baines is vastly superior. Of course it's just my view but I think it's ridiculous. Simply cannot wait to get him back

not sure how Baines would fair behind someone like Bale tbh - think there's a statistic floating around which says Baines is the most creative player in Europe at the moment (Key chance created or something) which suggests to me that possibly he is a little too attack minded for our team at the moment.
also gotta take in to account he is a massive mummies boy and wouldn't dream of moving to London

I think that a lot of fans of other clubs judge Benny on his form when he first joined us. I think that a lot of Spurs fans judge him on his one brain fart a game, which he is always going to have. I think that his good work far out weighs the bad.
I think that Baines would be massively over priced and I am not convinced that he would replicate his Everton form with us because he would be far more exposed.

We don't stand a chance with Baines unfortunately - if anything he'd complete the Utd rumours soon and take over Evra for a few years while Fabio is developing

I think that we would really struggle to sign an improvement on Benny and any full back who was an improvement on him would cost a lot of money. I think that money could be better spent on improving a higher priority area of the squad such as central midfield and forwards.

Well exactly but the problem is - and this is what Neville alluded to - Bale doesnt actually like defending or rather he wants to attack. Its his game now - he is an attacker. Granted he can play at LB but Valencia has played at RB however he is still a winger. Bale is the same.
