Next Manager?

'Spurs not given up on Poch'

How many of our failed transfers recently have carries the same headline, and have all ended the same way.

What if our decline continues so much without him that we'll never be able to attract a manager of his calibrate again? If this is our one last chance to cling on to the elite group he dragged us into?

The stars have aligned at this particular moment, so audere est facere
His calibre and reputation wasn’t what it is now when we hired him
There are other great coaches out there who would jump at the opportunity just like he did

'On Pochettino. By qualifying to the CL, his contract gets automatically renewed by an extra year. The interest from Spurs and Team Madrid is real. PSG (as Leonardo has said) want him to stay The only way for him to move away would be if he said publicly he wants to go'

Can't really Poch coming out and saying he wants to leave personally. He prefers that cryptic brick about going to life on a farm rtc

It doesn't sound like we particularly had a plan with who the new manager would be. Makes me wonder if the atmosphere and relationship between Levy and Mourinho had become that toxic that Levy fired him without an actual plan.

Or maybe he had a plan but just one he can't follow through with? [emoji848]

When the seagulls follow the trawler....

The stadium debt is a complete red herring. The debt is in long term bonds the earliest doesn’t mature for 15 years. The biggest £300m for 30 years. Interest is all we pay for 15 years which is incredibly low at 2.6%. Meanwhile revenue will be up £150m.

Spot on, its being used by s ome just to have YET another dig at Levy.

This would have been known by Poch and Tottenham. It doesn't change anything.

This is just like appointing any other manager that is already at a club. It will be same with ten Hag. It's the same situation when Poch left Southampton.

The manager and club make an agreement and the clubs compensation to the other club.

Remember when journos where obsessed with Mourinho being too expensive to sack. They didn't know anything.

Some was saying here a little while ago that we (journos stories) are likely 2-3 weeks behind what is actually happening, and I think it’s absolutely the case here.

The story of ‘we’ve decided our preferred candidate, he’s going to test our financial resolve’ must have been Poch. Everything we now see is just both sides playing their cards as you would expect.

I’d be stunned if we let this get public and we weren’t pretty sure we were going to drive it home. Although ENIC have form with the Dybala / Moutinho / Aguero type stuff they’ve pulled on deadlines, I think the emotional connection with Poch is something they wouldn’t mess with. In fact, I’d say PSG extending is because they know he’s gonna go. If they wanted to give him 2.5 years, they could have done it when he was appointed.

Because if this doesn’t get done, it’s a very embarrassing climb down and the new guy (if ETH or AN Other would still be interested) would have an uphill battle to be welcomed in by the majority of fans. ENIC need to be careful with their PR right now, and I don’t think they’d be risking it to not let this come off.
