He started there, and played there until last season, when he was converted into a hybrid DM/central midfielder. It was the trend in the Bundesliga at the time - in the same short period, Sabitzer, Julian Brandt and Kevin Kampl were all moved from the wing into central midfield. Sabitzer came out of it the best, though.

He can defo play on the wing. That's his 'natural' position, so to speak, although his versatility means he doesn't really have one anymore.

He was never a winger in the same way sissoko wasn’t
He did play wide but in a very basic way
I can’t comment in his career before RB though

Assuming Sabitzer arrives then thats another overseas player. We'll need to start re-balancing it PDQ and we'd have to de-register someone else from the EL squad

Sissoko *was* a winger, though - at least, that's how he started out. I see your point, and it's pretty identical to Sabitzer's development in that he was always more suited to central midfield. But Sabitzer can slot in seamlessly out wide, imo, and I think he has the pace to play the role that Di Maria/Pandev/Joe Cole et al have played out wide in previous Mourinho sides.
