Kyle Walker

I used to think Walker was a class apart...but our performances don't really dip when Trippier is in the team. KT really proved himself this season IMO. So many times he had an amazing game, or bagged a couple of assists and it felt harsh to leave him out next time. Not that Walker did anything wrong to deserve being dropped, more KT really stepped up.

Oh no I definitely agree. Whether Trippier can achieve that level consistently is another matter. Plus, he's a bit suspect defensively. I would always rather Walker played in the bigger games.

Agreed.

Also, does anyone actually think Trippier is as good as Walker overall? I do like Trippier but he's not in the same class as Walker and teams would definitely identify him as a weakness and target him.
Nope, this discussion is mainly about what happens if Walker leaves. The suggestion is that Trippier is already much better going forward but lacks both pace and in defensive proficiency.

However Poch has shown often enough he has the coaching and management skills to raise a player's performances way beyond expectations, so the hope is that once Trippier has had the chance of a decent run in the team he will come on in leaps and bounds as others have done since Poch's arrival.

Man C apparently close to signing Nelson Semedo, currently playing for Benfica. Let's hope there are something to it

Guardiola likes inverted fullbacks (that was the system he introduced at Bayern anyway), so he wouldn't necessarily intend a right-sided player to play at RB.

But broadly it's a good sign if they are moving on that Levy's given them a 'jog-on'

Trippier is more offensive as he whips in some really juicy crosses. The more he plays the more our players will know how to meet his cross.

Walker is really good defensively... his breakaway speed and strength basically pegs back the other team on that wing.

So two very different players and Poch is right to give trippier more game time. Just hope walker understands.

To paraphrase a famous line, could be this place ain't big enough for the both of them.

According to Graham Roberts, Walker is gone. His missus wants to move back north and he's had a row with Poch over playing two games a week.

Surely Madrid, Barcelona, Paris or Munich would be a more exciting place to live than Manchester?

Graham Roberts has always been the biggest WUM out there - he speaks absolute gonad*s. Spouting stuff he reads on forums as insider info.

It also takes 90 minutes to get from Manchester to Sheffield, compared to 126 London to Sheffield (bring on Northern powerhouse infrastructure projects).

And the reason Walker plays only once a week is because his hip is fudged - he'd play far less at a club with less specialist medical support
