Kieran Trippier

He probably played the best football of his career during the World Cup and has not even been as half as good since then bar one free kick in the league

Keeps doing that floaty curvy ball giving the attackers no chance, instead of whipping it with pace.

Yep, there was a lot of that rubbish against Ajax.

I thought the whole reason behind the nickname the Bury Beckham was because he is good at whipping crosses in like the man himself.

And people wonder while Llorente does not score many goals. He thrives on whipped crosses and one thing we seem to struggle with are whipping crosses into the box

His specialist cross is the first time on the volley one across the face of the goal.

Crosses from both sides are rubbish, Rose continually plays it behind the attacks. Our best crossing full back is Vertonghen.

So what has happened to Trippier's famed crossing? We have not seen much of it this so far this season.
Confidence.
All Spurs players are very good at football, all can cross a ball, but some of them don't have the confidence (arrogance/balls/cojones) to whip a cross in ... because if they mishit it and it goes behind, they get pelters

Please explain to me the reason behind Trippier's loss of confidence. During the summer he arguably played the best football of his career and has been no better than rank average ever since

Confidence has been shredded by the mauling he's received in the press and on social media for a whole series of defensive howlers this season, including:
  • vs City last October (meekly conceded possession to Sterling for City's winner)
  • vs Wolves last November (attempted nutmeg near edge of box allowing them back into the game),
  • vs United in January (intercepted pass that led to their winner)
  • vs Chelsea in February (farcical backpass to Lloris that turned into an og
He has confessed to over confidence, complacency and even arrogance following his success at the WC. Lost his concentration, tried things on he would not normally have attempted, one mistake led to another and the whole thing has set up a downward spiral that has ultimately affected his all round game.

I have been one of his stoutest supporters on here in the past but now acknowledge he has been too much of a liability this season. Probably needs a spell out of the limelight and a new start at a mid-table PL club or something like that.

Nah, he had been playing poorly since early early September when he had the support of the whole fan base after an excellent showing in the World Cup.

Things like this were written about Sissoko a year or so ago and the posters were castigated for bullying and undermining his confidence and here we are with the Sissoko supporters doing the same thing to Trippier as they so vehemently attacked others for doing to Sissoko

If I was a millennial, GenZ or scouser I’d be putting a hashtag here about double standards

its been a long time since Llorente has made that run across the post to make the angle for that cross though to be fair

Interesting that Ancelotti was quoted as saying that Trippier is a player they are interested in (along with another right back). Hopefully we can shift him in the summer

Thought he played ok yesterday. A rare bright spark.
I thought he had a decent game too, but if players are spending their time and energy at this time of the season on potential moves away, it's easier to understand our collapse. There are rumours about Eriksen having agreed terms with Real Madrid too. This is a huge period for the club, and players should be fully focussed on our remaining games. There's not an international tournament this summer, so you'd think these things could wait a few weeks.

Having said that, I have no idea how reliable these reports are.
