João Palhinha

I can only think if we are not signing him, the plan is to -
*buy a midfielder closer to what we all want i.e. one who can also pass progressively
*accelerate and develop Gray even further

I am wholly, wholly appreciative of Palhinha, and would not be unhappy to see him return as I really like him, however if we are signing a diff profile of player and DeZerbi is on point then all good. Also, if he himself wants to be back in Portugal, all good. BTW, if he goes to Sporting, he is going to a CL club.

Who says were weren't in for him? According to the 'Cartilage Free Captain' website (and not being fluent in Portuguese I'll have to rely on them) the article linked above says "Spurs attempted to trigger his purchase option after the conclusion of his loan to Tottenham, but that Palhinha has reportedly chosen to return to Sporting in order to be closer to his family".
we really aren't an attractive club to players anymore.
