i'd love to hear the news that all the FA's in all the countries are all simultaneously withdrawing from FIFA and setting up a new organization run by democratically elected supporters. Wouldnt that be nice ?

Beckenbauer was the only person to vote for Australia as hosts. I'm sure he wasn't on the take and imagine hes not cooperating because the investigation is a sham.

I like the Germans a lot so many of the ones I have meet have such class. Berlin is an ugly city but then with it's history not surprising. But the Germans have a lot of class I like there mentality.

Brazilian police have arrested the chief executive of a Fifa partner company as part of investigations into the illegal sale of World Cup tickets.

Ray Whelan from Match Hospitality was held at Rio de Janeiro's hotel, where officials from the world's football governing body were also staying.

Last week, police held 11 people and broke up an international gang. They are accused of illegally reselling tickets, including some originally allocated to players.

Police say the gang earned as much as $90m (£52m) per tournament and could have operated at four World Cups...

It won the exclusive rights to resell hospitality packages for the 2010 and 2014 tournaments in an open tender in 2007. But the company only broke even on its South Africa operation following lower-than-expected sales. It believes it will make a profit in Brazil.

In 2011, its hospitality contract was extended until 2023 for all major Fifa events, including the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, in a deal worth at least $300m to the governing body.

The determined investigation by the Rio police threatens to shine a light on the complex and sometimes shadowy way in which World Cup hospitality tickets are sold and resold.
