ITK Thread

Eze seems more attainable. Linked last year, his agebts are close with Spurs and he’s not regarded quite as highly as some others. Which is maybe unfair. He isn’t consistent maybe, but idk how much of that is dependent on how Palace are playing.

He is the right age - a more senior and developed player that we need but not too old. Obviously skilful.

Of the various players linked who seem to have a similar profile (samanyo, Simons, Kudus), Eze might be the most pragmatic option. Some questions over his consistency but I haven’t watched him play enough to know.

The interesting thing with Dembele was he was so good in a reserved role in midfield - he could turn anyone and leave them in a heap - but he never managed to do the same thing further forward. I’m sure some of that was in his head, he lacked the mentality to be an attacking star in the limelight. He was more comfortable being more reserved and supporting. (No doubt bigger CBs weren’t as easy to role as midfielders too).

With Kudus you get the impression he loves the limelight and performing. Sometimes too much - he might take too many touches and want to unblock everything himself. But he’s not ‘shy’ upfront like Dembele was. So as @thfcsteff says, with the right structure, drills and guidance he can better apply his maverick skills.

Perhaps we should’ve recruited van Gaal as gaffer to unlock Dembele’s full scoring potential!
