Have we finally grown a pair?

I know it may be costly in the coming weeks but it was great to see the lads make niggly professional fouls to stop Everton, especially in dangerous counterattacks.

How many times in the past have I screamed at the TV: "pull him back!!" only to see the opponent run unchallenged into our box and score.

I know it is not exactly sporting but I don't give a sh**! Finally a team with some b*lls...

Mason and Bentaleb both have a bit about them like that, they go in hard and won't get pally with the opposition. Soldado has it in him. You do need a nasty side. We will defo need it against the Chavs later this week.

Was thinking something similar nice to see some of our players do some nasty things, I will always want us to play the right way but it would be nice if people knew we were not going to be a pushover.

Perhaps they have listened to and are responding to the criticism Gary Neville meted out recently?

Ask me in 10 games time.

Exactly in 10 games time or even the rest of this season. The evidence is pointing towards that but Chelscum will be a test... I hate losing and dont wanna go there with a lose mentality but if we go there and get hammered thats another story...

still lots of games to play but look at the evidence.....villa, hull and today Everton.

we seem to be on the right track......eriksen impressed me the most....by adding to the defensive part of his game it makes him even more effective.

Yeah, Eriksen could even end up as a midfielder rather than an AM if he keeps developing that side of his game.

I think Kane is another who puts himself about. The whole team was aggressive in a controlled and determined way. All the best teams are. Bentaleb, Mason and Eriksen all worked hard today and gave as good as they got. It was great to watch!

I terms of nasty nigglyness, I think Soldado is the best we have in that dept. Even in Spain when he was scoring a lot, he had a nasty ******* streak.
Love it.

So they only way to win is by cheating?

AAARRRGGGHHH !!!

i think we should keep the pair growing and NOT change the team

yes i know what that means..it means lamela, ade, chadli, kaboul , dembele, capoue et al ALL miss out

i am fine with this if it means we get the performance we did today

infact if we drop bentaleb again i'll swing for someone

Mason, Bentaleb and Kane all have a bit of bite about them and are fighters, as well as being very technical. We're literally growing this new-found toughness (though agree about it being an attribute of Soldado's too).

Agree, the only PL change we should see for the next few weeks should be - Naughton in at RB.

It's not nastiness, it's a winning mentality. Something lacking from Spurs for a long time.

No

thats an over lapper....and that lessens lennon's impact.

unless you can get naughton to 'stay'

Agree. Having a full-back that stays and passes quickly down the wing is what Lennon needs to shine, rather than playing the role of Walker's dogsbody.

Chiriches did well for Lennon yesterday releasing the ball to him quickly and accurately and it made a big difference

Having a second player that can go on the outside is an advantage. If the FB follows the attacker inside it opens up space.

I don't know - Lennon's best ever performances were in front of Corluka. Lennon and Walker have never been as good a pair because they want to run into the same space.

You need two players smart enough to work together. Even if Lennon tries to go past his man, he can turn back and slip Walker through. The idea that they've never been able work together is a bit of a myth too.
