I always try hit some chips and pitches at range. Even if it’s just 10 -15. You’re right need to keep it up. Sadly my driver creates all my drama .
My range has a really nice practise green where you could hit upto 50 yard pitches so I'll go and do some of that tomorrow

I've applied for the ballot at the old course next week.
All the foreigners usually cluttering up the place have cancelled, desperate to play it, but bricking it as well!

I went to play in a work doo at the Fairmont course and we managed to get on the old course as our landlord at the B&B helped us out.

The wind was down but TBF it was a relatively easy course tee to green, lots of wide spaces and fairways so always found myself in play. The greens were another thing, tough as you like, I tried to not hole puts but lag to a circle in my head in the end and improved. I found if you tried to hole every putt you got punished

At least you know where you're going wrong - first 18 holes in a couple of years last week and shot 129 (par 70) losing 8 balls lol. A mix of awful drives, approaches and chips. Putting bizarrely was pretty good though.

It's just one of those things as a golfer you feel you have to do.
I've on the 1st tee in almost darkness with no clubs and still felt terrified. The history and atmosphere is amazing.
The one thing golf has that trumps any other sport is that you can play the same courses the elite play.
Have played Royal Troon and Carnoustie with the stands up for the Open, amazing.

St Andrews feels spiritual.

We had a drinks reception overlooking course from what was like a 2nd club house, as sunset it was emotional, never felt anything like it in my life

The whole town is actually very nice, I holidayed there as a kid and it is a great place.
The Old Course is just magical though, the history is amazing.

I've read many an golf author saying that the Old Course isn't even the best course in St Andrews

History though is incredible !!

It's on my bucket list of courses to play before I die though

Kingsbarns is incredible. Best course I’ve played in life though is old head

A slight grip change was needed on this as my right hand was far too weak

I assume you mean the opposite; it is very hard to have your right hand too weak.

The classic, what 100% of golfers start out with, is a strong right hand... assuming you are right handed. Ready to chop down a tree or smash someone in the gops.

Looking down, you should see 2 knuckles of your right hand i.e. your right hand is largely covering your left hand and therefore fairly inactive.

I.e. as you swing, your right hand has far less chance to get involved and hoick it right or left, it just 'helps' your left hand to smoosh it straight.

Yeh no knuckles showing to 2 now

Have been to the range the last 3 lunchtime
Swinging the club as well currently as I can remember (Lowest Handicap was 10.2 when I was 25)
Really compressing down on the ball and not slapping it anymore
Am playing again tonight, massively back in love with the game of golf again

Bit hit and miss tonight

Was swinging too fast and weight on my toes for about 10 holes

Slowed the tempo right down and had my weight more in the balls of my feet and the last few holes were really good

Golf is frustrating, why I love it so much, am playing tomorrow afternoon too

Do you use hybrids much, I have a driver and 22 degree hybrid and need something in between - trying to decide between an 18/19 degree hybrid or a 3 wood. I usually get a good connection with a hybrid but they seem to keep very low - far lower than my 4 iron used to or my driver does.

I found that until I started hitting mine further back in my stance, like you would an iron.

I've started up again, going pretty well so far except for my Driver is becoming a bit of a 'power fade' where the last 60 yards are bounding across the fairway into the trees. Nice.

Was a lot better yesterday

If I can keep my tempo smooth, not swing too fast and not overswing I'm on to a winner

Just put my Hybrid back into my bag, hadn't used it for a while and have been hitting it lovely, it's such an easy club to hit too

We're staying at the In-Laws this week
Their garden is about 100 yards by 100 yards so I've turned it into a chipping area
Been ace, done over an hour every day
