Franco Baldini

I'll see if I can find another source or perhaps even a quote from Levy himself. I actually think he just recently said that Pochettino has final say on all transfers.
Whilst some may doubt the integrity of Sherwood, what has he to gain by being dishonest about this.

I would hope Poch has final say. When it comes to actually identifying targets, Baldini would have a big say I would imagine.

A joke of an appointment if u ask me . What has he actually done to our benefit long term ?? He had 100 m in pocket to sign players .. Easy to sign players then if indeed that was his job ? What young players in academy has he signed or youth players ? Fail to see what he done

Can you produce a Pie chart, as to the influence of each of the commitee, and a Gant chart for the various members at each stage, then I'm happy to spread the blame.
Either way, it's hardly been a success. I appreciate that others are probably at fault too, but imo and maybe I'm totally wrong, Lovejoy has the biggest influence overall, budget asside.

I'll see what I can do!

Well depends on what you determine as long term. He's hardly been here long term for us to judge! Ericksen, Chadli, Alderweireld, Trippier and Delle Alli might just be some decent acquisitions.

Baldini's specialism has always been uncovering exciting teenage players

Azzaoui and Yahaya are two we know he was very directly involved in recruiting (Yahaya doesn't appear yet as he's not old enough to officially register till January)

If just 2 of them make the first 11, or get sold for £10m+, Baldini will have been worth his salary. We just won't find out for 3-4 years.

As would the scouts.

I'm not saying he has done a very good or exceptional job. I'm just saying that he's not been the rubbish that people on here have been portraying. For everyone that is saying he was "a joke" or "a shambles", which in particular of the £100m of signings have been "a joke" and which (if any) have been successful? Poch is also one of his "signings". And then I ask, if you lose an £86m player and replace with said signings, what is the expectation as to what should have been achieved with those signings and with a managerial change.

I'd love to know what sort of foresight should have seen that Soldado, Lamela and Paulinho were never going to cut it in the EPL and what other DoFs have never made a mistake.

Whilst we're still waiting for Gazzasrightboot to come up with the goods, you're obviously the expert on his role.
Maybe you, another bloke on the internet, can do a pie chart to clarify the weighting of his overall objectives?

I found doing this helped put our current position in perspective

Great link, I thought it would be dull but was very interesting to see how lucky we are as Spurs fans... nearly always in the top flight, often in the top 10, sometimes winning things... the most common teams we've beaten are West Ham (ever) and Southampton (in my lifetime)... maybe that is why they hate us so much.

No, doesn't really read like that at all.

He can have his full trust but still have the acknowledgement that things aren't working.
No harm in using his ability if he can maintain his professionalism and help us during the window before he goes.

Lol! I see you don't like how this Paul O Keefe "random attention seeking schoolboy" might actually have been IN THE KNOW with this information as it goes against all you have "spouted" here about Baldidni, how highly he is actually regarded amongst the Spurs hierarchy, how employing Mitchell was irrelevant of Baldini's future at the club etc etc.

If it makes you feel better to feel i am actually Paul O'Keefe then be my guest! :D
But can I ask you what makes you automatically assume Paul O Keefe is/was an "attention seeking schoolboy"? I'm not on Twitter and don't follow his tweets, so i don't know the history of what he "spouts".

The fact is the Telegraph journo who wrote the article seems to have written some decent articles about us over the last couple of months and does not seem like the "stirring", "let's get some clickbait going" type that i's expect from maybe the Star, Express and The Mirror. So i don't buy that crisis/stirring thing at all.

For the record i like Baldini as well and would probably like him to stay (he seems to have the charm we need to counter Levy's style at times; a good combo imo) but it's silly to put one's head in the sand and just assume the article is cobblers, especially as the club haven't denied it yet....

What you trying to say, don't spend the £100m promote youth instead? This place would have went into melt down, and rightly so.

It appears as though Pochettino has denied it. There's a single line right at the end of this article. that certainly implies he was asked "Will Baldini be leaving?" and he dismissed the idea...

"(Baldini's not leaving), nothing changed from the last season. Nothing's changed."

Hard to know the exact context, but it certainly looks like a denial.

Hmm...i for one would hope that's true, but i reads like a bit of a loose denial when put in the spot by Poch, and we know how well he usually handles things politically.
Any video of the interview?
Either way, a denial from a more senior club representative with quotes would be more concrete for me in this case..

The vast majority of the players included in those lists are English (from London and the south east generally) and have been with Spurs' youth set up since long before Baldini joined the club. The foreign flags only indicate potential eligibility, I believe. Most of them are, in every other respect, as English as steak and kidney pudding.

The only ones who are definitely foreign, that I know of, are Tom Glover (Aussie) and Ismael Azzaoui. Glover was recommended to Spurs via a mate of Pat Jennings a few years ago. So nothing to do with Baldini. And signing Azzaoui was largely the work of that Aussie scout who worked for us for a couple of years. Again, nothing to do with Baldini.

You're probably right that Baldini is largely responsible for Yahaya, though. Only thing is that, last I heard, there appears to be some doubt as to whether we will be able to secure a permit for him and that we might, therefore, have to let him go.

Every transfer has its risks, but even admist the euphoria of reinvesting Bale's £85m, a lot of people questioned the wisdom of signing 7 players with zero Premier League experience combined. The fact is, only 2 of those 7 have worked out so far, 3 have been sold and one looks he will go imminently.

Chiriches - Poor signing
Paulinho - Poor
Soldado - Poor
Chadli - Very good signing
Eriksen - Best of the lot
Capoue - Poor signing
Lamela - Underwhelming
