Djed Spence

No, it shows what a dumb decision it was to extend Davies and signing Robertson,

Davies would not play LB ahead of Spence or a Williams if we signed him unless Porro & Gray were also injured. He’s a glorified coach.

We need 4x first team level full backs. 2x RB & 2x LB. The quality of player we would sign to be a backup RB or LB behind Spence is lower than Robertson.

Henderson would have almost certainly come on and been the voice on the pitch at 1-0 up with 5 mins to go yesterday and he gets injured in a freak situation

I agree about Hendo.

Long term England problem. We appointed a captain who wasn't a captain, played in the wrong position to be a captain and we have relied on other players to be the leaders on the pitch for years. Hendo was always the unofficial captain for England and the players always looked to him when he was on the pitch. One of the problems we had this week was taking 2 leaders in Rice and James off then pitch at the same time. We were basically left with Pickford and Stones in the key areas of the pitch to get us through.

Bellingham is the leader now.

If Rice grew up in the Med he would be a CB. Same as Eric Dier who moves back to England and becomes a CM.

I do feel for Tuchel in a sense because he never got to play what he views as his best XI due to the fitness of James & Saka. His primary strategy pre tournement was those 2 putting in quality deliveries from the right flank. Henderson would have almost certainly come on and been the voice on the pitch at 1-0 up with 5 mins to go yesterday and he gets injured in a freak situation. But that's ultimately where his squad selection let him down.
He knew James struggled with fitness issues as was Livramento but there was no alternative at RB aside from players of a completely different profile of player in Quansah, Chalobah, Konsa & Spence. He knew Saka was struggling going in and he only brought Madueke as his back up who is again a different profile of player.

Trent should have been in the squad. Not ideal for every game but he could have a positive impact when needed.
Bowen should have gone over Maduke because he at least brings some quality to the right wing that Madueke clearly does not offer.

This is the kind of thing he could learn from and you chalk up as 1st tournament error. The subs against Argentina are not though.

I somewhat agree and think Tuchel's stubborness meant he made some poor squad selection decisions which cost us hugely.
