Djed Spence

I’m probably in a minority and though I like him it might be a good time to sell. He’s been here several years and been decent but not anything special. If he stays then it would appear he’s back-up for Porro - given that we brought in Robertson (who I didn’t particularly want) for left back cover. We’ll never get a better price for him and we could use the funds to improve the starting lineup further up the field.
Over the years we have all seen players peak at the World Cup and then move to clubs only to belly flop.

He seemed to have been wound up properly, perhaps by the England camp to get very achieve.

He had brilliant moments in games but equally some defending positions taken with some poor footballing decisions. He’s not the only one guilty of this by the way before everyone piles in … this is the Djed Spence thread

If we were to get rid I think we need cover still, so only makes sense if we improve at RB and get an upgrade there for Spence

Maybe he will want to test himself as a starter rather than warming the bench. I would say that his stock possibly will be over inflated at the moment. We would need to get a suitable understudy.

Yes in fairness, Tuchel and the England environment seems to have brought out the best in him.

In fairness he has also been good for us but not been able to get a head of steam 1 given the manager merrygo round and 2 because he has been filling in on two roles rather than having a long run at one

But he did that for England too (2 roles) over the course of the past few weeks. I can’t help feeling that he’s a highlights player rather than a steady consistent one, and tournament football might suit him better.

In a steady environment though and one in which he is clearly being trusted (look at the reaction from those around him).

Spurs has been anything but a stable environment for anyone over the past 2/3 years IMO

He is clearly a very talented footballer and one who I personally think will benefit and grow from playing regular football, that might not be here, but he has tons of ability
