I was critical of Levy but would have loved it to have worked out under him. He played by the financial rules put in place but as we have seen, flouting them meant nothing ultimately. We aren’t part of a multi club system that seem to be springing up everywhere, so with him at the helm we at least held our own identity.
I heard on the Lab podcast (up to each individual listener to believe it) that ENIC had been willing to sell to the Qataris and that Joe Lewis wasn't willing to sell from under Levy as they have a good relationship, and let’s face it Levy had made them a lot of money. When it came to negotiating, Levy had been the blocker, stalling and dragging out discussions to the point the Qataris withdrew. This part sounds familiar and in keeping.
Now I know this is all speculation and it’s based on one persons testimony on a podcast. However, I have a feeling that in the medium term the plan of ENIC is to sell the club, potentially to the Qataris again. Highly doubt they would have Levy as a figurehead if the above is true.
All sounds plausible tbh, price won't be going up just though with the state we're on in.
