Daniel Levy - Former Chairman

This crowing over a points total amounted to a little more than recognising it as something that had happened that is was good sign for where we were and how we were progressing. Like with a lot of your posts you build a strawman argument against an extreme position that no one actually holds

Posters were absolutely crowing about the points total at the time. It was circa 7 years ago so you’ll forgive me if I can’t recall specifics about which posters, how many etc. no one would be crowing about this had we won the league in either of those seasons.

Fair and I'm not keen on arguing about Levy because I appreciate him but I can't say I agree with your last paragraph regarding 'super clubs'.

Liverpool/Chelsea/Man U etc have all had poor domestic seasons but have won trophies during those years too. The only club who haven't is the Goons under Arteta, they are complete hypocrites. Their fans used to say when we were finishing above them with 2nd/3rd placed finished that trophies were what mattered which I could accept. Now they are winning naff all but 'competing' for the title it is a very different story.

Football fans eh...
They are just like we were under Poch
A united front
Except they are much less likeable especially because their football is brick

The points total, goals scored and goals conceded showed where we were
You need luck to win things, timing is key too
You don’t control what others do only what you do yourself

I very much agree that trophies matter.

But I think for those clubs when having poor spells, and us, getting back to fairly consistent CL participation is seen by most fans as really important and a step in the right direction.

Those trophies weren't enough for those coins unless it was also matched in bettering results in the league and getting CL football imo.

Football fans, like all people, will be inconsistent in their viewpoints.

I see those back and forth sparked by people saying positive things about Levy (on the football side) too.

I think we've improved and kicked on several times, but we've also had periods of decline and examples of not kicking on.

I think we're a big club. Not the size of the biggest clubs in Europe and England (what I think of as the super clubs). We're not THAT far off, but we're not at their size.

I think trophies are one measure of success, not THE measure of success for us. And particularly when talking about what Levy has done for the club on the footballing side I don't think trophies alone is what should be looked at. Like I said, to what extent trophies are the measure of success seems the key disagreement.

For those super clubs too. Give them a couple of rough years where the things that were a given when success was measured on trophies and it turns out CL participation, European participation, being able to attract and keep great players is actually seen as important markers of success.
Enter Hicks and Gillett as examples

Yeah I disagree and think you have taken whatever was said the wrong way, I certainly don't remember any crowing - I'm not even sure what would constitute crowing about a points total 😂

A massive sense of pride twinged with ultimate disappointment

It's the same about criticisms, people do, others don't seem to read it and decide no one ever does

For those who are loyally on Levy's side....how do you feel now, knowing that even the majority owners wanted Levy out?
That's life....he turned their 55m investment into what some are saying 4bn investment.....I'm pretty certain they are happy with what he done.

As we all much to a man have said, it was time to go.

I read the Lewis family statement and them being the money holders have a direct chance to put that money in and makes us as successful as they say they want to makes us, so let's see.....talk is cheap, they now have to prove it.
