Cycling thread

All he needs is to get tour of Cali in his legs and he will be fine. Paying the price for his 6 day racing and not having a proper off season.

That said i am going to see him in 6 day London again this year, great night out.

World track championship this week, a bit later in the year then usual we have barely anyone there who went to Rio last year, very young squad doing very badly. But good experience for them for the future.

Terrible news. Didn't he win Giro d'italia when Contador was disqualified? Gonna watch the La Fleche Walonne now as a build up to today's highlight

Froome already has it won again bar an accident.

I never really bought into the Porte hype. The guy has had 1 top ten finish in a grand tour at the age of 32. BMC have a pretty weak team in the mountain compared to Sky, Movistar and even Trek.

Team sky looked really strong on the first day and they were meant to be weak this year, a few sharp short mountain stages that will test them but they look strong already.

Most interesting to me was Kittel doing such a strong ride in a time trial. I love the tour de france more then any other sporting event, though tottenham is still my number one love.

Yeah, that was a real shame, and pretty much screws it up for Quintana as well.
Before Porte joined BMC, he was a helper, and pretty much dragged Froome and Wiggins to their previous victories. Would never have won without Porte in the team. He was poor on the tt today, but I don't think one should read too much into that result, as many chose to "coast" and avoid accidents.

And my countrymen did well too, especially Boasson Hagen. Think he might be in yellow after the 2nd or 3rd stage. Kristoff looked in good shape as well, but the teams bizarre decision to drop Michael Mørkøv, will affect Kristoff in the sprints. He is his best and most important helper in the sprints.

It is just a contest to see who is the best at concealing the drug enhancements, has been forever and always will be.

I went up a little hill near my house today and that was enough for me. Mind you I did have my five year old in tow. I'd like to see Froome try that.

Disgusted.

Is clear cav was back to top form the way data were leading him out. With 9 stages for sprints i think cav could easily have won a couple.

Always next year and his sprinting shows sign of maturity the way he held back at the final. Gives me hope he can do it next year though with garvia and caleb ewan it will be tricky.

You can tell he is highly motivated to get the highest tour stages. Two more seasons on the road before he starts preparing for the Olympics in Tokyo.

A great career for the greatest British athlete of all time.

Now down to Mclay to show something.
