By the way, is this Copa being televised live anywhere ? Annoyingly, It is not being shown here in Asia. Found a very reliable river but unable to watch it properly due to it being office hours !

Today's results :
Chile 2-1 Bolivia
Argentina 5-0 Panama

Messi got the hattrick after coming on as a sub in the 60th min. Messi has now scored 53 goals for Argentina, just 1 goal behind record goal scorer Batistuta. But it will mean nothing if Messi does not win the Copa or World Cup for Argentina !

i came home from work yesterday just as Messi was brought on to rapturous applause, it was a performance I'll be thinking about in 20 years, it was a 20 minute hat-trick but none of them were tap-ins, the way he was dancing around the helpless panamanians was sheer artistry and the final goal was created after an outrageous pass by Lionel. Stupendous stuff.

Seems even stranger that it's taking place just one year after the last one.

This is a Special Edition to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Copa which was started in 1916. Notice it is called Copa America Centenario, not just Copa America. Next Copa will be in Brazil 2019.

It seems strange to have it in US but can understand the logic behind it. Most of the South American nations have financial problems hosting big tournaments. This is why Copa has always been held on a inconsistent basis, being held every 2 years, 3 years or 4 years.

Today's results :
United States 1-0 Paraguay
Costa Rica 3-2 Colombia

Colombia, especially their manager, was really stupid. They got complacent against Costa Rica by resting many players and got punished. Due to that, they finished behind US and most probably will face Brazil in the next round

Today's results :
Ecuador 4-0 Haiti
Brazil 0-1 Peru

So, Brazil are out of the Copa ! They only needed a draw against Peru to win the group and progress to the next round. Instead, they lost to Peru in a controversial fashion. Peru's goal looked like a handball but was given by the ref after consulting his linesman. Peru win the group while Ecuador finished in 2nd place. Embarassingly for Brazil they finished in 3rd place ! This was Peru's first win over Brazil in Copa America since 1975 ! Thought Brazil and Argentina would play the final. Instead it is now up to Messi and Co to take advantage of Brazil's early exit.

--------------------------------

All the quarter final matches looks like well balanced. Venezuela have been the surprise package of the tournament, as they beat Uruguay and almost beat Mexico. So, can see them making it tough for Argentina.

Deuce is en fuego. Cheeky bid? Ace finisher, great in the air, doesn't stop running. Three goals in three games.

The Ex V Current Spurs record in the Copa America so far :
Ex Spurs = 3 goals (Dempsey X 3 goals)
Current Spurs = 1 goal (Lamela)

And Yedlin has badly damaged the Current Spurs image, giving away a penalty and getting a red card (2 yellows) in the Copa.

Latest results :
Quarter-finals
United States 2-1 Ecuador

So, the Americans have made use of their home advantage to progress to the Semi final. They will meet the winner of Argentina-Venezuela match in the semi final.

I don't think Yedlin has any effect on Spurs' image (not that it matters). He's only made one appearance for us - two seasons ago - and is obviously on trial and our third-string RB behind Walker and Trippier (and maybe even behind Kyle Walker-Peters).

If anything, Spurs' management will be scrutinizing his Copa America performance. I don't think anyone else is making any judgments at all about Spurs based on his play.

Latest results :
Quarter-finals
Colombia 0-0 Peru
(Colombia win 4-2 on penalties)

Colombia will meet the winner of Mexico-Chile match in the semi final.

At this moment, Argentina are leading Venezuela 2-0 after 35 mins of the 1st half, with Higuain scoring both the goals so far.
