Colonoscopy

Spending every day in hospital, as it happens (not for myself).

My daughter, Arya Grace, was born at 24weeks, 7 weeks ago tomorrow. Heavy stuff, but she is doing well, so footi is a long way from the front of my thoughts most of the time! I didn't get to hold her until last friday when she was nearly 6 weeks old.

bloody hell mate, heavy stuff like you say - bet that wait made it all the more special for you!

Fingers crossed for your family.

Feel fine, if a little violated.

Doc said my bowel seems fine, although a small polyp was removed which is off for biopsy, although he seriously doubts anything nasty going on.

However, the endoscopy showed up massive acid burn to my oesophagus and they now want to do keyhole surgery to tighten up my reflux muscle to cut this down.
Something called barretts oesophagus.

Honestly, really can't face anymore surgery..............there will be nothing left to bury at this rate.

Mate...hope for your sake it's not too much...funnily enough, because my Mum's had (and beaten) cancer twice, I started asking my docs a while ago if I needed a colonoscopy, only to find out that they don't do it normally until 50!!!! I still think I should ask for one again soon (46 now) just to be sure...

Very best of luck mate...it sounds like it will all turn out fine but what a journey...

This sounds like my sort of thread. Medical procedures and premature babies. :)

The worst scope you can have IMHO is not a colonoscopy, it's a bronchoscopy. They don't sedate you much because they want you to breathe effectively, yet you have a big hose occluding your airway that you want to rip out because you're so friggin' air hungry.

Funny how you can be off the forum for a couple of years and come back to find nothing has changed. Is there any bit of you that's in GREAT shape, Crawley? :p

And Gifter.....don't they do kangaroo care at the hospital your daughter is at? We encourage even ventilated babies to be skin to skin with their parents because it has such beneficial effects. In Sweden they do almost all care in NICU's while the baby is on Mom or Dad's chest. Hope she is doing well now, it's a long journey I know.

In a word..............no.:(

I am a bit of a mess, TBH.

:(

You've turned 50, right? Everything turned to brick when I hit 50.

Sorry you're having a rough time of it.

Mine started at age 3. Had no hope to be honest

50 means nothing to me.

Maybe we should do another "what's wrong with GG posters" thread.
We had one some time back, and some of the ailments were pretty nasty. And that was not including all the dodgy diseases DHSF has.
