Can't remember did he have a defibrillator fitted after the first incident?.

All the best wishes in the world...it must have been so so scary for him. :(

Everytime it goes off like that, the force is huge. My friend had one, he eventually needed a heart transplant. One time, his defib went off 30 times in 60 mins. He said each one felt like a horse kicking him in the chest; FWIW the man is a hero of mine...

It’s amazing what modern medicine can do, I know all too well. Hopefully he’s fine now?
 
Yeah please stop now, it was amazing that he managed to get back and play again, but for his own wellbeing and his family he needs to call it a day now.

He seems tactically aware so perhaps coaching, or a director of footy type route, but either way I think his on pitch days need to come to an end now. Great to hear he’s ok and hope he has a speedy recovery.
 
It's been five years since he basically died, and he's now 34 and is still playing at a pretty high level, which should soften the blow of actually having to retire. Which he should consider now.

It's a shame the whole thing, as he's such a cleverly talented player who I think should've been able to perform for several more years (see Modric), but actually living should count for much more than that...

Must be a weird feeling though - he's basically a super hero; his heart just stopped and restarted by an internal machine.
That must be an odd feeling - you know retiring is sensible, but equally the risk is probably less than anyone else on the pitch because of the implant, and he's just proved it.
I wonder what the success/failure rate of the device is?
Presumably the more heart attacks you have the more damage is caused, so the risk becomes greater?!
 
Very sad. Presumably the medical people will tell him it’s time to retire and hopefully he will if that’s the case.

Tough though. Having something he loves taken away from him forever in this way is a bit cruel. That said, obviously, there’s a lot more to life.
