Champions League And Europa League Changes

So it's a week off work and £5000+ for travel, hotels, food and drink and tickets, the peoples game?

As i said fans won't be happy. With preseason tours and world club cup theres no need for it.

There is a power struggle between fifa and uefa though. Fifa supported the esl and wanted the world cup every 2 years. Uefa now getting brazil and argentina into the nations league.

I’ve been to most of the UK NFL games, that they are proper regular season games matters.

Pre season friendlies and competitions, internationals, they are not “proper football”.

If the product is going to be sold in new markets we need to give them a real taste.

Uefa is european. Fifa is world.

Also, if the owners of top European clubs are Qatari/ Saudi/ American/ Russian/ Chinese etc then of course they want to grow it outside of Europe.

99% of owners just want as much money as possible, whilst not destroying the product (so they can earn more and more every year).

Kind of inevitable that it will happen at some point in the next 50 years. But let's hope they don't f*** it up too much.

Maybe grow the clubs in those countries?

This is the beginning of the franchise.

Not a local sport, but a global one.

Why have 5 teams in london when one can be in saudi arabia? Or japan?

Qatar, Saudi and Russia will become rustic backwaters when the world goes post-oil in the 2030s

Saudis wanting to join the CL......good grief

How will they navigate the financial rules? How is it then a European Trophy?

Na, can't be....surely?

Would be absolutely ridiculous

People will point to israel but there were very good/specific reasons they were allowed to join. Pretty sure fifa had to give it the go ahead aswell.

They'd be better off joining leagues with Bahrain, Brunei, kuwait, Qatar... stayin in the asia cup (or whatever their version of the cl is).

This is all to get the world cup in 2030 anyway. We saw it with qatar and russia. As soon as they get enough influence and bribe enough to get the vote they'll give up on football.

Thank GHod football is governed by organisations that never make ridiculous decisions, and certainly doesn't put money and personal gain before all other things.

Be difficult for them to justify it though. Saudi teams in means european teams miss out. Why saudi and not other countries? What about ffp? Would the likes of la liga and the prem agree? Would real and juve..?

Standard logic doesn't apply. They'll just make up explanations that suit them, I'm sure.

"If we buy up your deadwood for ridiculous money, can we rely on your vote?"

103 members. That's a lot of deadwood. Saudi teams can only have 8 foreign players.

Would be easier for aramco to offer to sponsor european competitions for a huge amount.

You have to think bigger.

D'you know that super League, that Uefa Fifa 'the fans' despised?. It was all about money (surprise surprise). But It showed there was an appetite for it from the clubs (why? Money, surprise surprise)

The Saudis are asking nicely at the moment.

But the original governors of the game are there to be challenged. And it's easy to paint them in a bad light

I think the LIV golf thing was an experiment.
Squeeze the historic organization (PGA), until they break or come to the table.

As always....follow the money.
