Caulker charged by Serbian police?

I might have missed this, but this is on the official site.

The Club has been in contact with the Football Association amid reports that our defender Steven Caulker has been charged by Serbian police in relation to alleged incidents that occurred during the recent England Under-21 international in Krusevac.

At this time, neither The FA, the player or the Club have received any formal notification of a charge.

The FA has confirmed that they will seek to determine the validity of such reports and the formal position and that they are continuing their discussions with the Government to bring this matter to a swift and satisfactory conclusion.

The Club has requested all available information on this matter and will continue to liaise with The FA.

do we have any binding legal terms with countries like Serbia ? can't we just tell em gonad*s

Boycot all games in Serbia until they sort out their racist scum and drop any allegation towards our players (England that is). If they don't, caulker should refuse to travel and so should Spurs/England in solidarity.

it's him and Tom Lees. Not sure what the charges are exactly.

Seems stupid tit for tat crap from the Serbian authorities. The UK Govt was all set to get involved in the racism angle, they should be fully behind this too.

Hasn't been charged. Some twit in the press saying he's been charged is not actually a charge; they do have to inform him at the very least. Or, they can charge him without telling him, which is the same as not charging him.

We do have an extradition treaty with Serbia. We previously handed over Kosovan criminals stating we have no opinion on their crimes and are just fulfilling our legal obligations in line with said agreement. However I cannot imagine the government would not step in and prevent an extradition of a British citizen in this instance. Especially for such a half baked charge and when we were largely the victims of an attack.

Actually Tom Ince, not Lees.. the Press Association corrected it late last night.

I know nothing about the charges of what he's supposed to have done. Surely this is flimflam though?

Opposing fans should throw bananas at Serbian fans*.

*This to indicate that although not really a politically correct term to use we see them as a banana republic. Might have to print that on the actual bananas being thrown to avoid confusion...

Just hearing Caulker's suspension has been lifted. He still has to do one day's community work, which sounds more like a face-saver for UEFA than anything else, so to all intents and purposes he's been cleared. Tom Ince's one-match suspension stands and Serbias ban on home games in front of their fans has been increased from one match to two.

UEFA / FIFA are a bloody joke when it comes to racism.

A Swansea City player was denied entry to the UAE this week simply because he was Jewish - no action will ever be taken against the Apartheid Arabs.

What a ridiculously ignorant comment from a poster who is usually so well informed.

He wasn't denied entry to the UAE because he was Jewish, he was denied entry because he was Israeli. He could have been an Israeli Arab (Muslim or Christian), a Druze, Bedouin (though some would consider those Arabs as well, some of these would probably slit your throat for suggesting it!), a Bahai Israeli or a completely atheist Israeli. All of these would be denied entry as soon as they whipped out their Israeli passports, even if their name was Ahmed Mohamed or Girgis Boulous.

This policy, rightly or wrongly, come about only in 2010, when Mossad agents masquerading with European and Australian passports took out al-Mabhouh, a Hamas operative, in Dubai.

I have a Jewish British friend surname Cohen who works and lives in the UAE no problems. He even eats kosher meals on Emirates flights there and back. He says that Jews experience no problems in the UAE and in fact, his son is currently doing some time in the American university of Sharjah very happily. He knows some Russian American Jewish women who are married to local men.

Do not confuse being Jewish with being Israeli or being Israeli with being Jewish. The two terms are not synonymous. I would have thought that someone who lives in Israel would know this first hand.

Is it not correct that he was denied entry because he has an Israeli passport?

Oi you lot, thought this thread was meant to be all about Caulker. Isn't anyone else going to celebrate the fact he has been vindicated?
