He was so good in Casino Royale though, perfect Bond, it’s a toss up between that and License to kill for the best Bond ever imo.

Casino Royale is great which makes it an even greater shame that they've fudged all of them up since. License to Kill is great, I watched it again recently and really enjoyed it. I think that the Spy Who Loved Me is my favourite.

I loved that one too, a Kubrick Bond sequence and at that age I was absolutely smitten with Barbara Bach.

I think there are some really good things in the recent movies but I agree they could be better. I think that they perhaps get a tougher ride as we are all so misty eyed about the Connery and Moore films which with fresh eyes probably have the same issues with plot, pacing and reality.

My problems with the recent films is that they aren't much fun and unnecessary/unwelcome back story.

The back story is broken, you can’t play the dinosaur card on the third film of a reboot and injecting family ties into things was just lazy.

They have tried to be too clever, we don’t need the extra fluff with Bond.

Agreed. Bond works best when it is like a sitcom and there is a reset at the end of each episode.

I agree with the discussion about Craig on the recent Spectre Smersh Pod, he would've made a great Bond villian.

New Bond films are fudging abysmal. Overly complicated, full of plot holes, contradictions and contrivances, and so far from entertaining its unreal.

Craig clearly doesnt even want the job either, he couldnt look more tinkled off/disinterested in them (since Casino Royale).

I cant wait for them to kick him and re-boot again. Im not surprised Boyle dropped out, speaks volumes IMO.
