Axel Witsel

http://sportwitness.ning.com/forum/...-bid-for-belgian-international-decision-tomor

We have apparently offered Zenit 26 million euros for Witsel. His preference is supposedly AC Milan and whilst Milan want him, it is only on a loan deal whilst Zenit want to sell. The article says Zenit have set Milan a deadline tomorrow and if they can't agree it then he's off to Tottenham.

I'm not 100% sure that this is true, as I don't think we have that in our coffers, but fair play to Levy if we have.

Is Witsel all that?
How does he compare to other DCM/DCM-types we've been linked with, namely:

- Asier Illaramendi
- Lars Bender
- Christoph Kramer
- Sven Bender
- Morgan Schneiderlin
- Gianelli Imbula
- James McCarthy
- Victor Wanyama:D
- Alex Song:eek:

Some website saying we bid 26m€ for Witsel but with Milan in picture .. Saying if they don't sign him by tomm evening at 5 when Italy window ends then he joins us !?

Italy's Calciomercato say that AC Milan have been given a transfer ultimatum by Zenit St Peterburg over Axel Witsel. That ultimatum is: Close a deal tomorrow morning or see your target sign for Tottenham Hotspur instead.

Calciomercato claim that Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a bid to Zenit of €26m for the midfielder. AC Milan wanted to pay less than that so Zenit are pushing the situation. The transfer window in Italy closes on Monday night so everything would have to be done very quickly tomorrow if the Belgian international is to make the move to Milan.

AC Milan would prefer a loan deal which gave them the right of redemption. Zenit aren't happy with that and if it's a loan they want a redemption clause to be automatic, so basically a permanent deal which starts off on a loan basis. A compromise could be a loan with conditions, so if Witsel played a certain amount of games the deal would be made permanent for a pre-agreed fee.

It's impossible to be certain whether Tottenham Hotspur interest is genuine or merely an invention to put pressure on AC Milan to agree a deal closer to the terms Zenit would like.

Tottenham Hotspur already have a strong Belgian core to their squad, the addition of Witsel would only add to that and see Tottenham have more Belgian internationals than any other club.

Players always come from left field at end of window to Spurs . Firmly expect a few new names to crop up tomorrow . William carvalho wud be nice haha

Agree with this classification. Kramer and Bender are the most defensive oriented of the allrounders, and Song is the most offensive oriented of the dms no?

Also Illara is the closest to a AM of the allrounders.

Yes, I find him very offensive.

Looks like he is really leaving Zenit.
He has last year of his contract. Also from the start of this season there is a 6+5 limit in RPL, so Boas has less schemes with foreign players.
One of russian TV-pundits, who is a big fan of Zenit and knows some team information, also confirmed it.

The question whether he goes to Milan or us (if we're really interested of course) and will this transfer be completed in the next two days.

Milan don't seem too have any money so not sure they will be able to afford the fee, their finances have been poor for years as has their team. Don't think they even qualified for the Europa league this year and didn't last year either.
