I'm with Bedford though....I'd rather none of our players head to the WC.

It's a very difficult situation for players, clubs and fans. I want to see our players in the premier international level but I worry about the chances of injury and how failure to get in starting XI or bad results will effect them.
I expect the club has similar concerns and have the added problem of players returning late for preseason work. We desperately need to start next season with a fully fit squad, I can't remember the last time we had that.

Canada will put on a good show, they do sports well BUT it will be low key as a destination pull, Mexico will be the carnival of football, America though looks like it will be a sh1t show. The cities can't agree on funding and thats key in North America when it comes to events and showcasing, most of the money comes from the City if central government isn't putting in the cash, Trumps already said he will treat cities differently depending on who is in charge there.

Anyway that aside, Gray looks a proper proper player. Growing into a monster and at a time when we are so so poor, that speaks volumes on his character

If he keeps developing he'll be an exceptional player. Even if he doesn't fulfil his potential he could be a really good player. Absolutely wonderful talent and these talented young players remain a shining light in a train wreck of a season. And may end up being part of the difference between going down and not.

Said this before, but every challenge put ahead of him he seems to step up to. Keeps finding new levels.

Yeah, don't know the talents of the other big teams but would guess we have a set of players that you could build an expectation on. I still wonder about the capability of our defence actually. I also worry about the lack of true leadership in the team that sets foot on the pitch, including the captain.

As you say, the biggest topic is the political landscape. I was in Russia in 2018 after FIFA corruptly awarded them the competition. I was in Marseille 2 years earlier and it was ugly in the city. I was tear gassed just sitting having a beer and pizza. Putin was smart. He made it quite clear that any naughty stuff from fans would have serious consequences. What will be interesting is whether Trump can achieve the same thing. SO much angst towards USA right now. It could get ugly.
