Ajax still has some cachet to it, although from a bygone age of football. Got to the Europa league final last season etc.
FDB has been closeted away in the Eredivisie in the Ajax bubble and I think he is right to move away from that environment.
IMHO a move to a championship side would have been far more beneficial for him long term. But he's got this reputation from his playing days and his attachment to Ajax and when clubs like Inter Milan come calling you would be daft not to have go, but then to take a perennially struggling EPL side you have to be very sure you know what you are doing.
The Eagles are sadly heading into turbulent air!

I certainly hope not. And as much of a plonker as he seems, I dont think Parish is an idiot. Sacking a manager straight after a window is folly.

Equally I am sure he will know managers take time to bed in. FDB was a real coup for him, and its his first proper attempt at developing Palace past a workmanlike side.

He tried it with Pardew, so clearly has designs, but of course that was doomed to fail from the beginning. Aside from the fact Pardew is a joke of a man, he is a manager with a proven track record of NOT being able to develop sides to play like that.

Was thinking this myself, go to a club that has some money and infrastructure and also one that will give you time to put the style you want on them.

Stability first!
Then you can 'attempt' to reshape a club. It has to be done on and off the pitch as well and with baby steps.
Look how long Enic have been at it? That was from a much stronger financial base.
 
I agree, Palace need to stick with FDB and give him a chance to come good.

FDB needs to do his part by getting some results, even at the expense of his football vision.
 
Not sure why people are surprised .. Palace has had a few very close brushes with relegation, they can't afford 6-8 games into a season with 0 points.

Yes, that questions why FDB was appointed in the first place, but I don't think there would have been any mystery that his #1 priority would have been survival, #2 development.
 
How many losses would you give him before a sacking? The pressure mounts with each subsequent loss and their next 7 league games look killer:

Southampton (h)
Emirates Marketing Project (a)
Man Utd (a)
Chelsea (h)
Saudi Sportswashing Machine (a)
West Ham (h)
Tottenham (a)

I think they are right to sack him, they have been hopeless and got done at home by Huddersfield and Swansea. If he stayed and took them to another pathetic performance against Southampton at home, just look at the 3 games they have after that. Not hard to imagine 0-3 points from the first 8 games and most teams get relegated with that (we didn't, we also sacked Ramos). Why wait til game 8? They'd get pumped and he gets sacked anyway. Better to act now, maybe get a little bounce from someone new. IMO.

I don't see the point in appointing him if you are not going to give him time. Make a safe appointment in the summer if that is your priority.

There was none!

It was a stupid appointment.
Frank de Boer was never going to change the club AND not risk relegation.
The board at CP are prize chumps.
Feel sorry for the fans, this whole problem is self inflicted!
