Danny Rose

Yes IMO he does warrant another pay rise. He is the best left back in the league. The player operating in the same position on the opposite flank has just gone for 2 to 3 times Rose's salary. If we were to replace Rose with somebody equally good then how much would we have to pay them do you think? I disagree completely with Rose's methods here but I do understand his sentiment. There are players at Crystal Palace earning more than him. Are any as good as he is? Are they the best player in their position in the league and right at their peak?
He signed a new contract last season.

If his contract is for less than he is worth then it's his agent who he should be talking to.

His agent is his uncle.
And also Kyle Walker's agent.
The guy who did the interview is a 'friendly' journalist who has interviewed Danny before when he worked at other papers. It may not be beyond the realms of possibility that the interviewer isn't overly happy with what his employer did to the piece he provided as well.

The journo has no ground. You work for them you know what they do.

I disagree.... it will probably get him what he wants eventually... (a fat pay rise here ora move elsewhere with an even bigger fat pay rise)
There's far more to the decision than who is the best player.

As we saw with Walker, Poch is clearly happy to play an inferior player if that's the best decision for the tram as a whole. If Poch thinks that what Rise has done is bad for squad unity then I have no doubt that he'll be warming the bench.

theres kids in some part of the world that are thinking exactly the same thing about uk nurses. its all relative...

for what he is/does, put simply, rose (and most of our squad) is being mugged off atm. We have handfuls of first team players than should be on 3x what they are on atm
They're mugging him off with ass to mouth?

No wonder the poor lad wants to leave.

I'm amazed at the number of multi millionaries with extensive experience of running big businesses we have on this site, if only they could let the club know how to manage the finances, failing that my grandchildren could help run the club, they know you just buy anything you want and everyone will be happy until a new toy comes out.

lol true, but isnt that the point of this forum. arnet you just as surprised at how many ex prem pplayers we have on the forum?

His agent was, apparently, unaware this interview had been given and was very, very embarrassed. Not sure how much I believe that, but is apparently the word. He would've been read the riot act by the club and Poch. This is, as you suggest, an attempt to retrieve a situation which has blown wonderfully up in his face.

I think Poch's press conference was a blinder.
Superb.
The man just goes from strength to strength. It is as if he almost offered pity for Rose, as if he suggested he is a bit bonkers.

In fact, and let me go speculative record here, I am guessing we will soon hear stories of Rose suffering from 'depression' and tales of 'he feared he'd never play again' etc, etc. I hope I'm wrong -it would muddy the waters for those whose depression is real- but I would not be surprised. Again this last bit is TOTAL conjecture on my part, a guess.

Anyway, well played Poch, well played Levy, well player Tottenham!

This is a very interesting take on the story. Absolutely stunning if Rose has gone and done this by himself and even the agent is baffled. Harry Hotspur apparently said something similar?

With you there man, just curious that this story is going round that Rose acted almost on his own...I mean what the hell was he thinking?

I've heard the same from non-Harry Hotspur sources. If what people say is true, he wasn't thinking.

I actually feel sorry for Rose if that's the case...that's just awkward. What an absolute plonker.
That's why clubs tell players never, ever to speak to a journo without a club representative present.

I don't blame him for being too thick to avoid getting outwitted by a scumbag journalist, I do blame him for ignoring the good advice that every player is given.

I have to say that I'm a little surprised at Poch's forgiving comments about Rose, irrespective of the circumstances. He must really be teachers pet. I can't imagine him being that lenient on other players in the same circumstances.
