TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Blackburn United - OMT

More of this please.

Well,Walker did something useful, a beautiful goal, but he was pretty dire apart from that! Anyway great to get the three points and be back in fourth. COYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He completed 102 passes in the game, second only to Modric. He got more touches (132) than any other player on the pitch.

fudging get in there Spurs. Let's not give up on 4th and 3rd place, we can fudging do it. I don't care if it's three 1-0 wins from here as long as we get the job done!

I'll use your normal line of argument...

Gary Neville = best right back in premier league history , countless trophies, countless medals, great understanding of the game.

Mick Cooper = Glory Glory online resident, lives in Bermuda, swears a lot.

Who's opinion is worth more?

Gary Neville's - but I have no idea what his opinion is (I'm watching a fox soccer feed with David Pleat as the co-commentator), but irrespective of what he's said, its his opinion every day.

My opinion is based on what I saw in the game, based on what you could reasonably expect (from the best young footballer in the PL)

I distinctly remember him being embarassed on several occasions, because of poor marking choices, and by letting the player he was supposed to be marking get past him, because of his mistakes.
I don't remember any crosses or passes into the box that resulted in headers or shots on goal (but I don't keep stats or follow the stats engines that are out there.)

I didn't say he had a bad, or disasterous game - just that in my opinion, I would have hoped for better from him, given the opportunities he was presented with.

It is pretty much the same argument that I have with Rose, both fullbacks had an easy time today, with no difficult wide players to deal with, both of them contrived to look laboured.

You can jump down my throat if you want, you have the right do so if you think I am out of line, but tell me where I have been unfair, or over critical. As for the swearing comment, I havent been profane or inarticulate in any of the comments that I have made today - have I? I admit to using industrial language in my condemnation of posters in the past, but I always try to be measured in my comments about Spurs players, as it annoys me when people resort to "he was brick" type comments, and always try to be as objective as I can, if I feel the need to be less than complimentary.

I'm a committed Spurs supporter, and dont seek to rubbish our players, manager, team or club. All I try to do is take part in debates, and always try to explain my POV

Because Walker scored a great goal 'the rose coloured glasses' come on and some people started lauding him. He was better in the second half, but very edgy in the first and as Mick has said, against almost non-existent oppostion.

Since you've typed all that Glenn Hoddle has since said he feels Walker was the best player out there. He said that he was brilliant defensively and good going forward.

He was voted motm btw. You can have your opinion for sure but you throw that line of reasoning 9 times out of 10 (personally i think it's wrong that just because a former manager or professional says something it's worth more than what you see with your eyes). You seem to think that's the case though so it's only fair it's used against you from time to time.

I think I'm with Mick on this one. Goal aside, Walker had a reasonable game -- a few tackles, some decent passing, getting up and down that wing. However, his crossing needs serious work. If anything, I'd say it's a bit like Azza's a few years back. With some training, Walker could still end up truly world class.

Still, that free kick was IMMENSE. Hope he starts training 'em!

Walker is still learning. Im not his biggest fan, I think his passing is a bit brick and his crossing is fairly terrible. HOWEVER he provides decent support to Lennon, they have a decent understanding and ultimately the guy has pace which aides his recovery when someone gets past him which is a great asset to have.

I don't use that argument every time, only (in my memory) against the "xxxxx was toss/brick/crap" phalanx. As I said, I hate that attitude, so if I ever feel that I have something less than positive to say about a spurs player, I try to stand up for my point of view with reasons for holding them.

I certainly take exception to Glenn Hoddles view that he was the best Spurs player on the pitch (and that hurts for me, because it equates to a committed Christian arguing with Jesus) because I believe that at least 6 players had better and more influential games than Walker, certainly with less mistakes and by players who had more demands on them during the game.

Unless you put a really high bias on scoring a goal, to offset the negatives in the performance. His goal was magnificent.

A decent enough win and performance, but to be frank, if we hadn't beaten Blackburn today that surely would've marked the end of the world. They are the worst team I've ever seen in the Prem, with the most clueless manager.

Mate Derby County made Adel Taraabt look like Zidane

The bial you see getting spouted about Walker is quite frankly ridiculous. He's not perfect but he is a very promising full back who already has demonstrated he has a great future ahead of him. Half the people on here seem to revel in the fact he makes the odd mistake just so i can go "told you so". Its just as bad watching a player with the pre-conception that he's brick as the "rose tinted specs" argument.

I think he's had a great season, he's not singularly at fault for our downturn, that was collective. This kind of hounding of a player is the kind of brick I'd expect to see on a Emirates Marketing Project forum, not spurs, especially when the player really hasn't been playing that bad. He got the PFA young player of the year and a MOTM performance yet people can only still ponder on his negatives. What the fudge did bale and modric do today? Modric gave the ball away countless times yet you don't hear a word about it

Walker got right side of his man just once when faced with a one on one. He stopped just two crosses.

Pro's or fans, it never ceases to amaze me how people can get caught up in the hype and start seeing the emporers new clothes.....

Winning a game by default because the other team didn't show up doesn't make me any more confident for the last three games.
