Christian Eriksen

IMO Eriksen has made tackles like the one he won against Barton since he came to Spurs and has given the 50-50s a swerve since he came to the club. I think he will play the game in that way forevermore. At the beginning of this season he was carrying an injury, maybe this led him to avoid a bit more contact than usual? I don't think there was, or ever has been anything wrong with Eriksen's attitude - his incredible work rate has always demonstrated that.

Attitude....timid....nothing to do with work rate.

I agree there is nothing wrong with his attitude, now or earlier in the season. I wish we could say the same about some of our fans, as soon as players drop from a certain level ( and it happens to ALL players during the season) then the slagging starts and its usually without basis.

Confess I'm baffled as to why this continues to matter so much to some. He went through a dodgy spell but now he's over it and performing better than ever. So why continue to get so hung up on whether he wins the ball through chasing and harrying rather than going in like a tiger? We have the likes of Rose, Dier and Wanyama to do that kind of stuff when needed but there's always more than one way to skin a cat.

Get over it.

Mate, I assure you that anyone who manages to get up to a Prem level is in no way, shape or form a timid person. Eriksen's quiet off the field, so it sometimes seems like that translates into his performances on it, but that's not really borne out by the stats or the raw evidence offered up by just watching him every week.

He shows for passes, makes himself available, hustles and harries when off the ball to a level that Coutinho, Ozil, De Bruyne, Silva, Mata or even Hazard can't match, let alone exceed, and he does it all while naturally disadvantaged by dint of his slight build (which isn't something that can be said for someone like Ross Barkley, who nonetheless manages to post inferior defensive and off-the-ball stats despite being blessed with pace, physicality, power - the lot).

He sometimes lets a sagging spell of form get to him in the sense that he probably hesitates more and makes more wrong decisions when on the ball. But then, I challenge you to find a player in world football who hasn't had that happen to him or her at some point. He's only 25, too - in a couple of years he should be entering his prime, so even that will probably disappear from his game and he'll be the complete No.10. I just hope he's at Spurs when that happens.

The fudging pass to Kane that Kane didn't convert was sublime (again).

He is making some amazing passes every week, multiple times per game, its now "normal"

Not good enough. Should have 20 goals by now right @nayenezgani :p

He certainly needs to pull his socks up in the regard, and don't even get me started on his tackling stats!

But seriously, my major issue with Eriksen early in the season was solely down to his attitude.. To me it felt like he wasn't willing to impose himself on games like he has over the last few months.

I think we can all agree he suffered badly for form early doors?

I couldn't be happier with his upturn in performance standard, it's probably the key reason we're pushing Chelsea all the way to the end.

I'm extremely happy for Eriksen to have shut me up and am devouring my humble pie with a smile on my face, keep it coming I say!

Hurrah. At last the scales have fallen from your eyes. Good on you admitting you were wrong about Eriksen.

Agree Eriksen always had it in his locker. Most could see it, some couldn't. I recall Yoof questioning whether Eriksen was a key or needed. I was shocked. Even when off form he does a lot keeping us ticking over, moving the ball around well. A lot of credit should go to Poch as he's overseen Eriksen improved consistency. There is more to come though, he could put away more chances, and at 25 he can raise his game even more over the next 5 years. Eriksen also needs the rest of the team to play well, Demele creates space for him, and Alli and Kane link up well with him. When he was 'off form' those links weren't happening as well.

But @parklane1 what were your views on Dembele at the start of last season? Am I mistaken or did you think he would be sold?

I think fans want him to replicate his free kicks from training and I think feel that he has everything in his locker to kick on.

When I look at masters of their positions in our team, surprisingly with all of his stats and work in think we know that he can do so much more as is ability.

This sometimes masks what he does in the pitch even though it can be amazing ... we know Christian can go on to be the very best.

What about Tadic at Southampton as cover for CE ?

He can certainly pick a pass as well as CE, I know he is a bit hot and cold (but so has eriksen been in his time with us).

Maybe as Poch already knows him, there is enough that Poch doesn't like to be interested?

Tadic is another Chadli but not as talented IMO

Good player but lacks consistency

I maintain that the main problem earlier this season was that he wasn't getting enough service.

I've said all along that if we find Eriksen in those pockets of time and space near the box he will make things happen for us. Earlier our buildup play wasn't right and he struggled to make an impact. Get him better service and he's delivered. Along of course with playing his was back into form, but for me that primarily happens when a player gets the chance to play in a way that suits them.

Eriksen isn't the first player that has been allowed to play his way back into form in the first team without being dropped. He's also more than earned that chance to do just that by being excellent for us for some time before this season. Calls for him to be dropped earlier were unfounded.

Excuse me, this is the internet.
What do you think you are doing, admitting you were wrong with good grace?
How dare you.

My view/opinion on Dembélé has not changed since we signed him, ie i think with the ability he has he should be doing more in goals/assists ( and nothing has changed my view on that). I do not remember ever saying he should be sold just that if he keeps getting the injurys he has in the past Poch may be looking at bringing in another player who can play his role.
