Mighty Spurs vs. Emirates Marketing Project

Poch on that penalty kerfuffle:
"Lamela, Sonny, [Christian] Eriksen. ... At the moment, it's who feels better to shoot. Two players wanted to shoot. That's always better than nobody wanting the ball. They decided to be brave.

"Maybe the next one if Son is on, and Lamela too, maybe he says 'now you give me the ball.' The only one who shoots can miss the penalty. If Sonny missed, not Lamela, we talk in the same way. There's no issue.

"When we prepared for the game, two, three, four players can take [penalties]. Harry Kane is the first and then we pick a two, a three. But different things can happen on the pitch and the players can say 'I'm confident' and then discuss. They are allowed to discuss and then take the decision. It's difficult from the touchline because they're fighting and I cannot run to the middle of the pitch and say 'no you.'"

So we reasonably comfortably beat the best team in the league. Second place, one point behind City. Seven games unbeaten, that's almost 20 percent of the season gone. Best defence by some margin. And last season's PL top scorer is expected back playing for us within a month or so.

Am I dreaming???
So 80% still to come.
Stay cool.
Um, we beat the second best team in the league. We're the best team, have been for a couple of years.
Of course. But we need to prove it by finishing ahead of the rest.
:) "City were outplayed by a vibrant Spurs"

Stat below McNulty's report claims
  • Spurs have made their best ever start to a league season, collecting 17 points from their opening seven matches.
Beeb buying into the Sky narrative that football did not exist pre EPL?

Tut tut.

They forgot we won the league in 1960/1961

11 in a row

What an excellent performance that was. We totally bossed the first half. Anytime they got on the ball, we had one, two, three players there to press and take it off them. I honestly think they did not know what had hit them for a while. Wanyama was fantastic, but the whole team just seemed to click today. The pressing from the front by Son and Alli iwas very effective. Almost every ball out from Bravo was under pressure and more often than not came straight back to us. (Good fun from the crowd with Bravo too). 'Even' Eriksen was fighting for the ball all over the pitch. Our defence was immense (another clean sheet, and against City - not to be scoffed at).
It must have been 70 minutes or so before they started to get a foothold on the game and even then we generally defended well. It's not surprising if we were tiring a bit at that point but we did not sit back and try to defend the two goal lead, we kept going. The fitness levels of our players is commendable.
I did not feel confident about Lamela taking the penalty. Luckily it did not matter in the end.
A bit more composure in front of goal and we could have had two or three more.
If we can continue to play to this level, or even 80% of it, we are going to be fighting for the title this season, no doubt about it. Early days yet, but what a squad we now have. Capable of beating anyone.

And just to add, there was a great atmosphere at the Lane today, right from the beginning. I dont know if it is the ballot process, and the random placing of fans, but the noise seemed to be coming from all areas of the ground. I don't think I heard a single moan or groan today. Let's keep that up.

Excellent performance, excellent result. Well done Poch and well done the players.

You pass the message to the nearest player and he tells which player takes the spot kick.

No need to run on, but really if you have a ranking system then stick with it. Check military history.

In the 1st half, did Vertonghen get anything on the ball when Aguero went to ground in the box? I've watched it a few times and it looks like a pen to me.
Obviously written by Henry hahaha

Jan Vertonghen's risky challenge in the area on Sergio Aguero went unpunished by referee Andre Marriner shortly after

One of the best performances I've seen from Spurs for some time. So much love for Pochettino at Spurs. The guy has simply transformed us.

Everyone to a man was exceptional today. Honestly I found myself saying things like I'd settle for a draw during the week. Does anyone think the players or the gaffer said anything of that sort? No way. They truly believe they should be champions.

Honestly, we should back them. They deserve it. I know it's 7 games in but I hope they use last season to drive them and ensure they fight for every point. I think the top 7 right now are all capable. You could throw a blanket over them right now but we look more than good. Stay hungry, stay motivated and let's see where it takes us.

Absolutely brilliant Tottenham. F*cking love you

Immense performance today and the crowd were fantastic!

Wanyama and Son were the standouts for me but almost everyone played an 8/9 out of 10.

Still need more from Eriksen and Lamela. Both work hard but they need to up their goal tallies.

As for the penalty, I can only assume Lamela bangs them in for fun in training because he brudgingly let Janssen take one against Gillingham despite Janssen desperately needing a goal, and there was no chance of him letting Son take it today even though Son has been on fire.

Pretty sure we collected most points in 2016 so far.. that reminded me how leicester brought over their second half form of 14 season to 15 season.

Would be wonderful if we can launch a proper challenge till the very last game and

(deep breath taken)

And be champions on our last season in WHL..

After getting spanked by City on more than one occasion a couple of years back, we have now won 3 in a row with a goal difference of 8-2.
