Mighty Spurs vs. Emirates Marketing Project

What a performance. Incredible intensity and bravery in possession, no one hid. Wanyama, Vertonghen and Alderweireld were flawless.
Levy must be so happy to have Poch as manager, improves the players we have and has a strong, athletic team all singing off the same hym sheet. Perfect for taking us in to the new stadium.

Not much anyone can say that's not been said, marvelous performance from the team, manager and fans. Last year we struggled when 1 or 2 "big players" were missing we now appear to be able to cope in those situations and everyone knows they must perform to keep in the team.

It's easy for me, I'm just a supporter, imagine how poch the perfectionist must feel.

Easy? So you prefer being disappointed? Because what can you else be when your high expectation are never fulfilled? You must have had a constant stomach ulcer during the Jason Dozzel years...

And when it comes to Poch, maybe he just satifised with the way we placed today, with the opponent in mind.

I said in the thread about season expectations that I think we will challenge for the title. Today showed that we can close out a result, something we had to improve on from last season.

It was a very good performance, Poch sent them out with a perfect game plan and the players executed it. We are a legit, quality side. I don't see any team in this division that we can't out-perform over the course of the season.

Yes. We went out with a plan and executed it for 90 minutes against one of the best sides in the league.

Imagine going into that game without Kane, Dembele and Dier last season.

Hopefully also means we won't run out of steam, Poch can rotate more effectively. But early days. Baby steps, see how we do in the next one...

This is a team.

Truly outstanding performance, made them look second best all game.

Also, spare a thought for Silva and Gundogan, with 20 minutes left they were trying to break down the best defence in the country and then on comes Dier.

Rock. F***ing. Solid.

So we reasonably comfortably beat the best team in the league. Second place, one point behind City. Seven games unbeaten, that's almost 20 percent of the season gone. Best defence by some margin. And last season's PL top scorer is expected back playing for us within a month or so.

Am I dreaming???

I need to watch it again - far too nervous first time round.

Were we really that good?

We absolutely bossed them, particularly in the first forty-five; we had them pressed right back in their own half much of the time. Guardiola tried to change it up when he saw what was happening; went a bit narrower in the midfield and pushed Sterling further forward. They did start to get out of their half a bit more then, but we just stifled everything they came up with. They tried spreading it wider again later in the second half, by which time we had started to look slightly leggy, and were leaving spaces on our right, but apart from that one save Lloris had to make from Aguero, they hardly had a sniff. Great stuff.

best performance arguably in the last 2 seasons by us, after 60 mins i was watching guardiola in the technical area, he was barely gesticulating anymore, he knew he had been outcoached and outwitted by the mastermind who is our manager, a tip of the hat to brendan rodgers for showing it could be done. No passengers today, our transfer signings Wanyama and Sissoko were immense, it doesn't get much better than keeping a clean sheet against city, we definitely have the two best centre backs in the league and the best keeper. And all this without dembele, kane and dier for most of the match.

In other news, I was listening to the new Pixies album Head Carrier here http://www.npr.org/2016/09/22/494263939/first-listen-pixies-head-carrier

It has a song called Baal's Back. Bit of a thrash, with some ACDC style scream vocals. Anyway, it is pronounced "Bale's Back" which got me thinking.

Baal (usually spelt "Bael") - during the English Puritan period Baal was considered Satan's main assistant... to some other demonologists his power is stronger in October.

And thus it was written in the stars. I would love to see that fella back at the Lane in place of Sissoko or Lamela.

Baal's back, I bet you thought that I was dead and gone,
You wouldn't know that something's even on,
People, when the sky is turning black,
You'll know that it's me

Are you saving? Are you saving it for me?
Are you saving all your precious love for me?
