OMT ***Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace***

How much better did we look when Deli replaced Eriksen? I'm sick to death of seeing Eriksen jogging around after turning the ball over and putting his hands over his face whenever he finds himself underneath the ball or when he has to put in a challenge.

Im a little worried here.

I think Poch prefers Wanyama to Dier. That is why he is forcing him in the team when we do not need to holding midfielders. When Dembele is back im pretty sure it will Dier that makes way.

If he continues to play Janssen I also see it affecting HArry's game. Yes he can play deep and has a decent pass. But he is at his most effective at the point of the attack. We are negating what he brings to the team to force Janssen in.

When Dembele comes back where is one of Dele, Eriksen and Lamela going to go if Kane is back in those positions.

I think its no co-incidence that Kane and Dier have looked average so far this season out of position. Whilst Wanyam and Janssen have had good starts.

I feel it has to be one or the other with both of them. Dier or Wanyama, Kane or Janssen. But not for the formation all over to get them all in.

Poch needs to learn about premium season preps. We are fortunate to win this game. Amazing how our best and brightest from last season are struggling.

I'm not buying that story you're selling.

We were not fortunate. We were the better team and, on balance, deserved a narrow victory. If Palace had won, they'd have been fortunate. But not us winning this match.
Our view can be tainted by the knowledge of how much better we can play, but let's not despise the average performances that lead to close victories just by dint of us being better than the opposition rather than displaying a lengthy series of scintillating virtuoso moments from our star players.

I can see them rotating tbh. Neither of them is suited to covering for Dembele in my opinion, but at the moment it is needs must. I still think Dier is better.

Kane played as a #10 during his development years. IF we continue with both him and Janssen then he will eventually find his goalscoring form. It's early days, and I'm not 100% sold on the system yet, but if we can get Kane acclimatised to that role and crashing shots in from the edge of the box more often then he will do alright.

We are in the Champs League, we need this sort of competition, it's a good thing. The running this squad are going to do this year is going to mean that those three and Son are all going to need rest periods.

Agreed, but even Kane himself has admitted he's not 100% on it yet. Still there is always going to be a period of time where they are learning the role.

I agree to a point. Certainly with regards to Dier and Wanyama, but the Kane-Janssen situation could bear fruit. Even if we don't go forwards with them playing together, we will at times need to play with them together. It's probably best to give them time together early on so that they learn eachother's game and so that Poch can assess the situation.

Too easy to compare ourselves to the competition and feel satisfied that we are better than the. It's about realising the potential of the team that counts.

2 games In undefeated .... who knows what may happen but by reading some posts I would happily hand you over the rope

One of our better first halves, at least in terms of being switched on from the start. In control most of the game, just need that bit of luck in front of goal.

I don't care if he plays Coco the Clown at Centre half if it wins us games, no player has a GHod given right to play every game and if Poch has a plan, prefers one player over another, whatever, if we win then job done.

Good post Cochise. I agree with a lot you say in regard to my worries. Maybe it is good to see Jansen and Kane together so we can change it up in games.

But I don't subscribe to the point people bring up about Kane playing that position when he was young. His most successful games have been as the point man of the attack. He aerial ability, ability to hold it up and his distance shooting are all negated playing him deeper. Bale used to be a left back, does not mean you play him there behind an inferior player who can play left wing just to be both in. Yes it's an extreme example and deep striker is not quite as far off as his previous position. But playing him out of position when he needs to pick up form and negated his best skills are not a good idea.

On paper Wanyama seem like they could be a force but I'd rather have Carroll or Mason in to help the fluidity of our attacks until Dembele gets back. We have to have a better option than two out and out enforcers when Dembele can't play. We need an option there.

Also moving Kane deep also takes Dele's position. So now two of our best players are shifted to accommodate one. Personally I only want to see Kane and Janssen when we are needing a goal.
