I've been a Spurs fan since the mid-eighties and today I realised I'm done. I'm not buying that Atkinson made a mistake - he knew 100% that ball wasn't over the line. It happens way too often to the Chelsea's and United's for it to be coincidence. I've had enough and I'm gutted, not because we lost or we probably won't get top 4 but because there is clearly more than incompetence going on at the highest level and I don't see what the point is anymore

Luckily have sympathetic wife and gin or the fudging rabbit would be in a pie by now

You what?

What? so its one rule for outfield players and one rule for keepers? I was always under the impression that an advantage doesnt negate the original issue - I have seen yellow cards given AFTER the advantage.

Acutally im pretty sure that refs aren't allowed to play advantage from red cards, Wrong decision, either way.

Redknapp said he would have had the penalty and Cech sending off rather than Bale's goal.....criminal mentality, especially with how brick we are at penalties. And surely a guaranteed goal is better than a possible goal. The man has lot it

There's not.

I'm gutted, it spoiled the game, gave us a mountain to climb but it was sheer incompetence, that's all. And no, it doesn't make a case for goal line technology, it makes a case for better refs.

Atkinson is a great ref, he is the FA's choice for Euros. He didn't make a mistake, he knows he can't give that as a goal unless he is 100% sure it has crossed the line. He's not in a position to know 100% if the ball has crossed the line so either he's forgotten his training during an FA semi or it's cheating

Just got home listening to Alan Green on the radio, even he said it basically look like Atkinson had taken a bung..

A bit of my love for football died today, im heartbroken

I was just about to say that - im sorry but I would rather have had the penalty and ten men. Penalty could have gone in and thus ten men. If Penalty doesnt, then we have to play against ten men.

Anyways ultimately it wasnt our day

Nope. Theres two aspects to this.

You have the subconcious bias towards those teams who have been more succesful recently which results in a vast number of decisions going in the favour of those teams. I can only assume that these officials have some irrational fear of upsetting certain managers as they believe there is more chance of them being demoted if they make wrong decisions against them.

You also have just really crap officials who just make really poor decisions because they just arent up to the job. This is why although we are a bigger team than say Stoke, we are the ones still on the receiving end of decisions like in that game.

So yeah subconcious bias and general brickness. It really does seem to have come to the fore this season for some reason. I know every season mistakes are made but my GHod they've been bad this year.

Were cursed! if we recall whats happened to us over the last decade, im convinced we've really done some damage to something or someone in the past, as we always suffer heartbreak more often than others. Think we should move to stratford and start again.....

ive said it before and i will say it again , chelsea have had some unbeleivable decisions this season !
in the last 3 games alone they have had a ridicolous goal today , a non pen against fulham given & the madness against wigan ,
going back further just off the top off my head i can remember against Saudi Sportswashing Machine away they should have had a player sent off ( changed the game ) Emirates Marketing Project home city should have had a blatant pen , lampard should have been sent off against wolves ? and then scores the winner , us at home cashley hand balls it !
how about last season at chelsea both of their goals never should have been !! alot of these decisions are not even debatable
and dont forget sturidge joke penaly at qpr in the FA cup earlier this year ,
it does make you want to give up with football at times !!

I don't know if the book Ade for diving is a joke or not, would it have been a stone wall pen/red had Bale not scored??? as I can't remember it well out of my fury.

I just saw a pic which shows that the ball did go over the line - or so it looked.

To complicate further, if Bale had stopped for the penalty and red, but John Terry had blasted the ball into the net the goal would have stood and Cech still playing.

So, lesson is, if the keeper brings down the attacker, before he can blow penalty, get a defender to blast it in the net. Take the goal hit.

This is why you need to brin in technology. Its simply:
- each manager has 1 review per match
- review can only be used to review or claim a penalty, goal, red card
- Ref or 4th official watches on screen at the side from all angles needed

Managers wouldnt use the challenge frivilously given that they would know that they could need it in injury time and placing restrictions on what it can be used for means that it wont be used that much.

Pretty much all sports have brough in technology...rugby, cricket, tennis etc. Why football doesnt is beyond me
