*** Tottenham Hotspur vs. Burnley F.C. *** OMT

So our post season tour started in April.
Our players had fudge all motivation today.

I'll get back to watching the cycling now with Vertonghen.

Well that's two hours of my life, I'm never going to get back. Best part of the match was my cuppa at half time. Not ONE meaningful shot on goal for the whole game! Burnley are the worst side I have seen all season and they managed to drag Spurs down to their level. Honestly at the start of the match, I thought the game was being played with a deflated ball, such was the inept passing and trapping. Why on earth did Paulinho stay on? Why on earth did he start? Very poor performance. Hard to find one decent Spurs player.

Rose, who missed the internationals, the only player who seemed at the races. The rest were woeful. Well Vorm was calm, Dier and Ciriches I guess did their job. But the 6 other players struggled to impose their game. No spark.

Another innovative adventurous tactical masterclass from our manager.

Harsh, I think we didn't have the quality to win on the day. Burnley are no mugs and were always going to make this a tough game, we needed a bit of luck or quality but it was a dire game which never got going.

I blame Poch again, playing Paulinho instead of lamela or Dembele is just bizarre when he's been pretty awful most of the season. Then taking so long to change things. AGAIN!!!!! Let's see what he's like next season when he's got no excuses!

That was dreadful. Like watching an AVB side at its most boring. Why on earth is Paulinho playing? Chadli has been poor recently as well.
But even more worrying is our style of football. So slow. Lacking any urgency or creativity. A complete lack of movement in the final third. Too many of our players dwell on the ball instead of shifting it early.

Very much a bank holiday game. Considering they've given some big clubs touch matches and considering our missing players, a point is okay. These end of season games against those battling relegation are not going to be easy.

I thought the defence was pretty decent in the second half. Rose our motm.

Yeah. In isolation not a bad point, although we needed the win to stay in with a shout for 4th.

Like you I didn't expect an easy game. After international break too where they've had a chance to rest and our players have been away on international duty.

Defensively most of the team did well. We lacked the passing tempo to create something most of the game, shortage of quality on the ball from too many players. Too many poor touches and choices.

Before this round we'd scored the most and conceded the most of any team in the league in 2015...

Pochettino talked during the week how we have to protect our back four and goalkeeper more. He made the change with Paulinho in, made us more solid and cohesive defensively, but at a (predictable) attacking cost.

nothing in it with those 3 for me, Demebele and Lamela have been routinely poor, might as well give Paulinho a run

rose was good and I was pleased vorm calmed down after his clown act against Leicester

Kane was to high up the pitch, Eriksen looked better than his recent form, lacked a bit of composure today

as for excuses, he has a squad full of them, can't see levy letting him sell 25 players in the summer

I think had we got a Eriksen/Kane wonder strike we would have not complained but we lacked any real quality to deserve a win today. A draw was fair and perhaps Burnley shaded it if I was pushed to make a choice.

One change after an hour, last change with 10 minutes to go. Pretty standard stuff.

Paulinho played because he did well when he came on last time. He did his job defensively and, like most of the team, didn't do enough going forward.

I watched it in the bath. The most stimulated I felt was during my half-time w**k. Utter tosh, 4th is gone, let's just finish in that top 6 if possible.

Positives - hopefully the players were just a bit jaded from the international break, we've got a crap record at Burnley anyway. The players will pick themselves up and finish strongly. We were quite woeful but still managed a point away.

I really feel this team will get a good result against City but at the same time I can see us being dominated and losing to Villa. It's a funny old game.

Its not the result that rankles (tho admit it we were all secretly hoping for CL next season) it was the performance. Defence has been the problem, and Poch may have focused on address that, making sure we're tight and have a foundation to play from.

Problem is we didn't defend that well. Letting them throw balls in without competing for them, and offering almost nothing in attack ourselves, despite their weaknesses. Have to hand it to Burnley, they get you playing their game, and pulled us down to their level. They deserved the win. But we should have scored second half when the game was there for the taking. That's the most disappointing, we didn't kick on and step up when things opened up second half.

A young side that will hopefully learn from this.

where do we have to finish not to qualify for the EL?........i get the feeling the coaches and the players have worked it out already :)

Did anyone say where Fazio is? I didn't think he was that bad - better than Chiriches at centre half, at least.

Fazio must have winked at Poch's wife, he sure has done something to upset the big boss

Pauline, Rose, Vorm, chiriches all did well today. Tried their utmost.
Lamela and Townsend added something to the game, but Poch as usual brought them on too late.

I often wonder about Eriksen, what type of player would he be without his set piece goals.....

Bit boring, everyone's mind seems to be on next season. We should still be playing a bit harder than this, 21 points left after today. Get on the attack boys and give it a good bash.

Henry or Carragher?

Played out of position on the right. Dont think ive ever seen him have a good game there. Poch again - poor decision. Pretty much got it as wrong as he could have with the 3 behind Kane.
