The Annual Tottenham Hotspur Striker Search: January 2015 Edition

Hell of a lot easier to get the win if you can score more than one.

My point re Defoe would just be as another short term option.
Against Palace we struggled to break them down or ask different questions.
When that's happening, bring Defoe on and just let him pop off those 20 yarders, ask the opposition a different question.
Palace beat us yesterday by changing how they played 2nd half.
We lack options to change it up when it isn't working

Defoe was a part of the problem in similar situations for years and years though. I really don't think he's now all of a sudden the answer to a question he's never been the answer to.

Defoe to Sunderland. Mackems ship US striker Jozy Altidore and all the cash he can carry to Toronto FC in return.

Being reported in Canada by TSN television's soccer correspondent Gareth Wheeler.

I'm amazed we're not in the hunt for Dzeko! Would be a massive signing. STOKE are in for a loan deal! Surely we would be more interesting for him? I'd be very disappointed if we at least not give it a go!

I doubt Stoke have a hope of getting him. I don't even think City are willing to let him go, and if they were it would probably be abroad. The obvious one to leave first would be Jovetic.

Although, I agree, Dzeko would be great signing if it was ever possible.

You answered your own question with the word MASSIVE. Massive signings cost money something we aint spending unless we sell lloris or vertonghen. Totally agree tho he would be brilliant for us.

He has been training g with us and says he is really fit, sharp and ready for action

Always scores on his debut, easy money at the bookies

I mean to say, I'm sure he didn't in his second debut for us...away loss to Wigan (last minute header by Figeuroa IIRC)...perhaps it should be that he always scores on his home debuts? Any stattos able to confirm?

More importantly, have we come to terms with the fact that we actually may not get a striker in this month at all?

I don't think there was ever any danger of it happening.

All our strongly linked outs (Naughton, Kaboul, Chiriches, Paulinho and Lennon) are from defence and midfield.

Unless someone comes in for Adebayor (not looking likely), we won't go for a CF.

The only way around it I can see is if we make a late move for Rodriguez or Ings, and use them primarily as a LWF (i.e. balanced by Lennon's departure) for now.

I think anyone expecting additions, regardless of position, will be disappointed. Replacements for outgoings at best.

Not even that. We've got 36 senior players (3 out on loan), so we could easily lose 5-6 without needing to replace them.

Selling either of Soldado or Kane without a replacement would be a massive risk.

Naughton and/or one/two of our midfield we could manage without replacing.
