I think it does make sense. The change to personnel was quite dramatic and no solid injury news is a bit suspicious.
As for Poch i can certainly understand his approach when he arrived, open to persuasion when choosing captain and vice captain, almost making it a group decision and at the same time not alienating any of the big names/voices of the dressing room.
But he is the manager (head coach!) and clearly has a mind of his own and will call bull**** if that is what he is fed.
And who knows it is not much of a leap to think that perhaps Poch (although happy with the method he used to decide the captains) has been thinking that now he knows the likes of Ade, Kaboul etc a bit better that 1>he is not keen on there influence/behaviour within the group and 2>they've been sh*t on the pitch. And these events have given him an escape route to change direction.
To be honest Ade, Younes (who hasn't been anywhere near his best, and aybe never will again), Capoue can all go and will be no great loss. It would be a shame for lennon to go, although earlier in the season he did look dispensible, but Andros just really has trouble changing his style of play and Lamela is not nailed on yet. And Lennon i have always thought can listen too and carry out instructions excellently, plus has the work rate. Something that would be right up Poch's street.

Whenever Lennon plays he seems to work hard, and last night got back to make effective interceptions or tackles in & around our box. Going forward he made some good moves and useful crosses.
Poch did speak with him during one of the pitch intrusions, but there were so many repeated hand signals that I wondered whether the language skills are still an issue.
Overall, it has to be a good thing when the young player in form has the bottle to state his case in the dressing room .... and stand up for it.
Now what with Tim say? .... "The players are being too nice to each other" or words to that effect.
And fits the bill with Kaboul and Ade both being left out at the weekend and last night despite being regulars this season. Maybe its a coincidence - hopefully not though as we need a clear out from the squad and lead by Kaboul and Ade with Paulinho and Chiriches quickly following after

You know, I hope it is indeed a coincidence. If a manager wants to move anybody on, for whatever reasons, he can do that regardless. And in a good environment we should be able to move players easier, attract players easier, get better deals, etc. I don't see that we have much to gain from negatives or turmoil. A manager ought to be able to recognize things without any dramas, artificial or otherwise. He should be able to see his best players and formations, and be in tune with his squad and his options. His hand shouldn't need to be forced in order for him to see things and act upon them. Being backed in to a corner is not really a position from which you want to make decisions and deal from. Not sure how our captain and vice captain being in the out house reflects well on anything. So no, I hope all is well at the club and we will thus benefit from having a stronger squad over the busy holiday schedule. And if we want to do some business in the window we can do so anyway and from a stronger position.

Poch has given his players a fair crack this season, the likes of Adebayor, Kaboul and Capoue have let him down -- so he's seemingly binned them off.
He has had Vertonghen in and out of the side and it seems to have given him a much needed kick up the ar5e. So credit for that too.
I liked his lineup v Everton and I'm very encouraged he trusts some of our young players.

The Poch press was defo in play today. As Verts said they were tired by the end but this is it, he wants them at a level where they can play it and not completely die by the 40 minutes. I think the team will get there in the next few months.
Also the Bielsa verticalidad, I swear it was there today. Quick transitions. Scara might combust if we see much more of it!

I wouldn't change a thing.
Today's side is able to defend tight and press very very well. The ONLY question could be Nabil's fitness after such a long lay-off, but otherwise, the only change I might make is Naughton for Vlad, not because Vlad has been poor at RB but because this is a game where you want round pegs in round holes wherever possible. I think Kane will cause some trouble dropping off...I think we're going to beat them. I really do.

Steff, I thought you had a good mind about you but saying that we'll beat Chelsea? No chance. I too often think that we have a chance going in to these games & then we embarrass ourselves. This time, I'm hopeful of a better performance following the display from yesterday, but with Chelsea eager to bounce back from the draw against Sunderland, I really can't see us securing three points at Stamford Bridge although, of course, I'd love to be wrong.
I think that our team is still a work in progress. I enjoyed our performance yesterday but we need to be playing like that more often before I believe that we can go to Stamford Bridge and get a result. Perhaps I'm pessimistic, but I think we'll lose & just want to see us play well and not be disgraced. If we can put in another strong performance then, even if we lose, I'll take something from the performance. We will look to be making forward progress.
As for the team, I'm thinking that, if Bentaleb is out, perhaps Eriksen can take his position & Chadli can return to the team. Eriksen showed against Everton that he can put in a solid shift, so could play from the central role. Chadli can get a goal for us, as he's proved this season, so could be an effective switch even if I would stick with Bentaleb if he's fit.
No chance we'll beat Chelsea, unless they have a significant off-day. They look very strong. A proper Mourinho team now. I would even accept a decent defeat, whatever one of those is

One thing that gave us an edge when Bale was on form was that teams started fearing us - even before kick-off.
The last couple of seasons have just been hey-ho, it's just Tottenham.

Well that performance was crucial to any one in the squad who had doubts about Pochettino. It helps sell his ideas when the results are fruitful as they were v Everton. Lets just hope we build on it.
