Re: Bring Back AVB

Sorry GB there aren't many times I disagree with you but I have to on this one. It's my strong belief that Bale got him out of trouble the first season and sacked in November sums it up for me. It was awful under him. I would not want him back whatsoever.

His record at Zenith bears no relevance to me whatsoever. It is a league with no co petition much like managing Celtic I can't take it seriously at all.

Re: Bring Back AVB

No deadly serious, I'm a huge fan, I've said before, his first season was my happiest time as a Spurs fan, I can't remember the future ever looking brighter.

Yep Chelsea's won the CL after sacking him, with a smash and grab in the final, just imagine which other trophies they would have collected that year and the comfortable 1-0 win they would have had with him in the dugout.

Re: Bring Back AVB

something real likeable about the guy. Loved his first year with us, the memories, beating man utd at OT, defeating Arsenal, beating Emirates Marketing Project, beating Liverpool, not often we do that in one season. All those Bale goals, the way Bale would run over to him when he scored, he seemed to have the respect of his players, they all had a close bond.

Then of course the following season happened, "promises" were broken and it didnt feel like Tottenham. A shame the way it went down. If only we had backed him the first year.

Re: Bring Back AVB

Modric? Check.

Kind? Check.

VDV? AVB chose to sell? Check

Who is the 4th? Gareth Bale was still at the club. For someone who claims HR only did well at Spurs because of the players, your views are painfully biased when it comes to AVB in that respect.

12 month period would equate to the fourth guy being Bale.

1-0 win... Still not sure if serious.

Re: Sherwood would we be better off if he stayed?

Didn't porto sign moutinho, hulk and falcao for less than £20m combined? Were they truly world class when they signed for Porto?

Was Gareth Bale a world class player when he signed for Spurs? That doesn't stop people refusing to give HR credit. There is no consistency on this board when it comes to giving credit to managers for players development.

loved it. but he's in the past.

how about we just back our new young promising manager and support him.

really, have you not read any of my other posts? Actually don't answer that ;-). I'm from the school of Italian football, if you need to score more than one goal in a game your defence has ****ed up, I honestly sit here now in a t-shirt with the slogan "goals are overrated", when it comes to Spurs I just want us to be effective and win, results are everything, and he could get results, I want us to win stuff, I don't care how

Re: Bring Back AVB

We'll never know but I doubt we'd have finished 5th in his first season without Bale. Irrelevant maybe as we did have Bale but his last minute winners against West Ham and Sunderland on the final day of the season wouldn't have happened. He'd have guided us to maybe 9th without him that season and we wouldn't be having this discussion - IMO.

They were below us when they sacked him.

The Russian premier league has seen more clubs win it than the English one. It's tradionally been dominated by the Moscow clubs. Zenit are more like Emirates Marketing Project. Very little history and wealthy owner. The whole league has become an oligarch playground in recent years.

Re: Bring Back AVB

The football we produced under him where we went games for the first time in the 40 years I have been watching us not even have a shot at the opposition goal made me want to cry and not watch us any more. That was the only time in 40 years I ever felt that way about spurs.

Whether he was undermined by not getting the players he wanted is another matter.

Also in his last month he wanted out so bad that he stopped giving his tactical briefings before games, I know this for a fact because it came from some one who was part of the dressing room at that time.

On a personal not I hated him as much as some hated Sherwood. The football we played under him was more anti football then under Graham and the stuff we will be playing under Pulis in January if things keep heading south.

I am all for some exotic foreign coach who can have us playing sexy football. But avb at Chelsea and then us was not it. Poch might well be if we give him a chance.

AVB??? Gutterboy I like you and have stuck up for you more then most but your smoking crack son.

The first time time I saw Falcao play, early in his Porto career, I was on this board (or a previous incarnation) screaming or at least typing in capital letters that we should sign him. But did anyone listen? I don't know but we didn't sign him, so I'm guessing no!!! And now look at you all.
I should be a scout. Does it pay well??
