Extremely frustrating to see us play arguably our two worst centre backs again. Verts should definitely start. Dier I'm sure can't be any worse than Kaboul and Chiriches. I don't know Fazio, but as Sevilla's captain surely he too can't be worse than our pairing today.

That said, we had more problems than the defence today. They were poor, but so were the rest of the team for most parts of the game.

Plus for Lennon and Soldado, who looked promising, especially Lennon. Pauliniho I've now officially lost faith in.
 
I've just realised the Saudi Sportswashing Machine game is after a Europa game, I have tickets, seriously contemplating selling them as I can see another performance like today on the cards.

I wonder if we can trade this midfield for modric, bale, van der vaart, etc, like we did the other way round. We haven't unearthed a single match winner from the bale money.
 
Embarressed to be a Spurs fan today. What a useless performance, 65% possession but 1st shot on target on 70mins, players not trying, can't take or defend set pieces, no pressing and total defensive failure.

It is obviously really early in Pochs regime but today for me has put a big question mark on him with his team prep, selection and basic tactics and use of subs. He looked clueless on the sidelines today. I hope he learns how to park the bus this week cause we are going lose heavily at the emirates.

World class player, don't you know.
He has next to zero end product, for which Lennon gets criticised for, often rightly, but this guy goes for the posing impossible option almost every time and he has no defensive contribution. He lets. Morrison, 2 foot nothing head unchallenged.

We have a rotten system and Levi, it ain't changing anytime soon. The effing DoF and refusal to appoint anyone with a proven winners record because we prefer a 'yes man'.
 
I said before the season started that Poch could easily be sacked before 10 league games are played. Still would'nt suprise me.
 
We need a leader at the back, and we need a mobile, intelligent player to partner with said leader. Verts provides us with the latter. We completely lack the former. Let's hope the second-choice bargain buy Fazio can be that man for us, because we're screwed otherwise.

Christ, what an insipid performance. Kaboul, team captain, led with an awful display. Chiriches was even worse, and is clearly unfit for anything but being played next to an intelligent centre-back who can cover for his various errors and shocking lapses of judgement while the lad sorts his damn head out. We lost control of the midfield and the game when Dembele went off, but we were never really comfortable even when he was playing. Eriksen tried his heart out, but his set-pieces are just shockingly inconsistent. Brilliant one minute, utterly awful the next. Ade was surprisingly ineffective in the air, and his rangy running style doesn't help him when put through with through balls, because he can't control it quickly enough to make anything of the breakaway. Capoue quietly good, Dier acceptable, Rose the best of a bad bunch (even if his crossing remains frustratingly inconsistent) and Lamela needs to look up more when taking his man on.

Lots of work to do for Poch. Lots of players in this side that are ominously looking like they don't have the heart, the intelligence or the desire to play for him. Well f*cking done though, Levy. It doesn't matter that Poch has to endure a more painful transition than necessary, as long as the net spend remains positive.
 
I know a pre season game is played at a lower pace, but I feel that we tried to play the way Poch played with Soton more in pre season then now.... And Chiriches... Please no more, Poch. Terrible match, no fight, no running.
 
Really unimpressed by Poch's selection policy so far. I mean Kaboul as captain? Now we have to suffer him every week? Chiriches never plays in his clown costume which I don't understand and Rose also should not be in the side.

My main reservation when he came was I dont think he has a plan B really. That was based on the fact he hasnt won a game from going agoal behind in th eleague (not sure if thats 100% accurate but I read it somewhere). I think he will come good and its early days but I think he has vastly overrated our squad and think others on here also overrate it. Players like Dawson are needed to give some heart to our team and at the moment its devoid of any passion.

Poor system, especially with inverted wingers. Sherwood showed we should be playing 4-4-2, with Lennon on right and a left winger on the left.
 
I think we should remember that this side had a tough outing on Thursday in hostile Eastern Europe and that the trav…oh…uh…wait a minute…most…didn't…play…many…didn't…trav…oh fergeddddddddddit!
 
I was so excited by Poch, I've seen glimpses of good stuff, but I'm beginning to be completely unimpressed by him to be honest. Part of it is I don't agree with a lot of things he does, then what he does do fails pathetically which just reinforces the irritation he doesn't do what you wanted!
