Emmanuel Adebayor - Officially gone \o/

Re: Official - Adebayor

I don't think you can criticize Ade for lack of effort a single game last season! He ran like his ass was on fire most of the time.
The Ade=Lazy is mostly just a journo made up thing IMO, same as the Europa League is more of a stress than CL. What is the difference in playing Thursday-Sunday/Monday and Wednesday-Saturday/Sunday? It's just because 'Arry kept whining about it, and made the press believe it too, that everyone considers it a fact.

Ade Mk1 vs. Mk2 is not a made up thing, its been part of his career, that's why he plays for Spurs and not a title challenging side (which he easily has the talent for)

Ade Mk2 is not lazy, its not that he refuses to play/run/put the effort in, it's that he mentally isn't "on". Ade Mk1 can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and change it all by himself, bully defenders, lead.

The big problem is performance gap (not effort gap) between Ade Mk1 & 2 is really the difference between a 10-12 goal a season striker and a 25+ goal a season striker. Unfortunately I don't think we will see Ade Mk1 for more than 10 or so games for season.

Re: Official - Adebayor

We better pray that he stays fit -- even in pre-season, he looks our best forward by far.

I'd go bigger than 10 games this season, but the principle is right. We need a striker to step up when adebayor is having a bad day/period.

All players have bad periods during the season, if Ade has one it'll be a lot more noticeable just because we have no other striker who can perform at anywhere near his top level in our squad.

That said, I'd still take ade mk 2 over soldado. I've not seen enough of Kane to form that opinion though.

today is the only pre season game I've watched but if that's the case I think we are ****ed

I thought we looked more of a threat to schalke with Soldado up there

I think we looked more of a threat due to Townsend coming on, although we would have been more of a threat in the first half had the lino known the offside rule ;)

Adebayor, already, looks superior to Soldado in every respect and he's a couple of weeks behind in terms of fitness.

Hopefully, if today was anything to go by, we will create chances.

Still worried we are light in the striking department, 1 injury puts us in a very tight spot.

Re: Official - Adebayor

Is it me or was there some different body language from Ade today?

It may be paranoia but in the past I've not really seen him celebrate when others have scored - however today he just looked happier and more celebratory (it may just be the way he is and I may be reading into it too much).

He even had time to give a little dance after his salute (4th goal) :D

Saw the little dance ...

I honestly think Ade is happy at Spurs, seems to enjoy playing with us.

ok game in my opinion today, the goal means he will get extra "credit" but still a long way from Ade in form, hopefully that's just preseason rust, cause we need him to tally about a good number this season.

Agreed…could've (should've) had two earlier, but nonetheless, he played del and I feel he is finding form nicely...

Goal and assist today, plenty of involvement linking up the play. Looked physically better today, and a bit sharper. If he starts 30 league games, he should get us 15/16 goals and 10 assists.

Based on today yes. My 'beef' with Ade is when he CANT be bothered to show up. Today he did.

You know what, I don't really buy into this cliche. Every time Ade has a below par performance it's because he "can't be bothered to turn up", maybe just like everyone else not named Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, he can't put in a 9/10 performance every week? It doesn't have to be because he doesn't gaf ...

No one expects him to score/assist every week. I do expect 10/10 for effort though every single time.

Well that, and based on his time at Spurs managed by anyone other than tw*ts named AVB. He's a 1 in 2 goalscorer and he always creates a fair few.

I always see effort from him, I always see him closing down and making it hard for defenders. It just seems that whenever he has a below par performance it's because he doesn't give a toss. It's a tag that will never leave him it seems.
